yeah i have heard a fair few drag racers use the launch control units. they advertise them in streetmachine magazine etc... there is also one setup you can have where the unit will actually hold your car at a set RPM with the brakes locked on and all you have to do is puch the pedal and the brakes release and off you go. again not sure how it would work the brakes but if they can put a man on the moon im sure this is easy work for them

Here is a pretty poor example of launch control. You will here is popping which is the spark cut in action. The popping is caused by excess fuel being ignited inside the exhaust.

Thats really cool...

I had no idea this sort of thing even existed.. back when I was a teen, the best launch control you could have was a set of line lockers..

wonder if there is any way to achieve the same wihtout changing the ECU.. (intercept rather than replace..)

Yes! There is! I will dig up the article on it. There are a couple of guys playing with it on their XR6T's. It could probably be adapted to an earlier Falcon!

Incidently.. here is one of the repairs that has taken me away from the supercharger install briefly.

Its all been miged up now, tomorrow weather permitting I will be finishing start painting it.

think this was caused by the leaking boot seal I had a couple of years back.
least I know it's good now though....

hmm... I just accidently bought an EL... now I am re-evaluating my options.. I might put the EL charged motor into the EL... will see... the EA needs lots of rust work (see image above) the EL doesn't..

just don't like the rear end on EF/EL....

yeah.. but have a Mig and access to lots of EA-ED rear ends..

I'm thinking of putting the ED boot and lights into the EL body.. I just cut the relevant bit out of the EA-EB and weld it into the EL.. it could be done and the rest of the shell is in far better nick than the EA..

Here is my delima..

Here is my new $400 dollar EL falc:

Image

Image

nice body.. straight and clean... motor was fine as well, just needed to replace 2 spark plug leads and reset the spanner light and the airbag from low batt.

Here is the backend of both my cars:

Image

IF I did it on the EL, it would not be with Clear tail lights as I think that only works on the grey/silver color..
I would do the color coded garnish though...

what thinks you all of my new purchase?

rgds

Frank

PS A servey of all the people around here revealed that although the EL rear is classier, it is common and kinda boring.

The custom EA rear end had the general consensus as being much tougher...

Close ups.... The EL rear:

The EA with custom ED rear:

yeah... I'm sad about it too.. because I really do prefer the boxcar back end to the EF/EL,,, I wasn't just saying it because I had a boxcar..

I may be selling it to someone in the family though.. so won't get destroyed..

The EL was fantastic value for $400 I think.. looks great even if it is a poverty pack. (for now.)

A set of EF Tail lights will make a world of difference, no yellow where the indicator is. Just red and clear.

I'd put it in the EL, a copper wouldnt think twice at pulling it over.
