yeah, I was thinking about that too...

will have to put some serious deadening around the outlet pipe as well to stop the pulse noise which is really loud on these things when they are not mounted on a V6 valley...

But I'm planning on running a pipe inside the factory pipe and can fill up the small gap between them with deadening without making it at all obvious..

Now that I have the EL motor with the supercharger up on an engine stand looking hot.. I'm starting to get excited again..

I got that problem with my vortech, more so on idle.

I will look into a bit of sound deadening for mine, perhpas a box of some sort for the blower.

Things should progress faster for me now, because I'm essentially transplanting an EL motor into an EL.. I have much less to do..

but on the other hand, when I go to put the manual pedal box in, I want to swap in a Fairmont dash and heater box/complete loom so I can add all the good bits later.... so in some ways more work.

Thats not to hard of a job to do mate. If you have ever seen Kilma's EF XR8, Him and I did a full dash swap and heater box conversion in a day. We did consider swapping the heater boxes but was too hard with the V8 so we just modified his one which was even easier (Especially when you have a whole Fairmont heater box to steal parts off!)

I had an EL and I love the look of them. Mine was an XR6, in Dynamic White, lowered, colour coded bump strips, and nice 18" rims and it looked awesome. I will attach a photo and you can see what I mean. Most of the mods on it were just subtle and not over the top!!

Very clean...

I was hoping to do the dash and heater box etc while I have the motor out.. seems it would be easier to get to everything..

Now that I'm not doing it to my daily driver, I also don't have to stress about how I'm getting to work everyday. :-)

No, you haven't seen what I did to it. What you Read about my car was complete rubbish from someone that couldn't appreciate it. He bought a modded car to return it back to stock?? I told him everything about it, and I mean everything! It had an aftermarket ECU at one stage which I had removed and the person that removed it made a complete mess which I tried to clean up as much as possible. As for the rest of Brad's bashings, I dont know what he was on about.

Anyway, no thread hyjacking.

Yeahp. DO IT. Was an annoying job with even the I6 in the way... Turns out you don't actually NEED to put all the nuts back on the heater box studs on the engine bay side ;)

hmmm... I didn't know the EF's were clear and Red... Thats pretty cool.. I think I'll do that if I keep the EL.

Defintely worth doing, looks better than the orange party lights :)

Interestingly (?????? here we go, sigh ???????) I paid $400NZ for an EF FAIRMONT that had clear tail lights and sold them within a week for $80. I then went and grabbed some with orange in them from an EF GLI!

Maybe, just maybe, someone had replaced the ef GLI originals with EL ones? But then - the wagons are the opposite. The EL got the clear bit.

I honestly thought it was part of the aptly named "POVERTY PACK" (hadn't heard that one before, but liking it...) not a variation from EF to EL.

Perception is funny.. lately I've been driving around and finding myself wondering how Ford could be anything other than #1 in australia when about 80 % of cars I see in the streets are fords...

go figure..
