frank, i've come and read the entire thread, took me... i've lost count of the time. Looks awesome, good choice on the EL, have no regrets, and i completely agree with you on the tail-lights, they just looks so... weak. but, that's the beauty of your project, people will soon forget when they suddenly hear a vroom and you're gone lol
sorry, got excited there, nevertheless, been a month since the last post, any news at all? Sell the Sierra yet? I would love to see this thing in action! Can't wait to start mine... but i've only just realised that while i wait for money, the km's are building up on the old girl, started at 150 when i got her few years ago, just passed 190 the other day , although she's had no mechanical hiccups while in my care... i don't know if she could handle a SC i hope yours comes out awesome |

So very soon now the EL goes in the shed for the full treatment. I have a new baby girl arriving in a week or two so no doubt that will delay things for a little while but I've used the time to upgrade the EL with AU seats and full fairlaine ghia interior (dash door trims etc) I've also been looking around for a BF XR front bar to chop up and merge with my EL XR6 front bar.. but the engine is more important so as soon as I can, I'll be doing the engine swap. I can't wait to get this thing in the car either.. its been a long road and life keeps intruding. |

Figured I'd give an update while I'm here..
Here is the new fabricated outlet adapter for the charger.. designed to flow as smoothly as possible with as little restriction as we could make it. Many thanks to my brother in law for the fabrication work. We didn't have advanced equipment so this thing is made of mild steel like everything else I've made for this job. I'd have preferred aluminum alloy like the inlet is made of, but costs are prohibitive and this will work fine. The inlet area is actually bigger than the outlet of the charger and the offset should hopefully produce a beneficial swirl in the process.. Very happy with the final product though it's quite heavy due to the thickness of the base plate. regards Frank |

Hi DarkL..
Au seats front and back are not that hard.. fronts you just need to swap the runners, rear you just need to find a way to mount the bollards and change the lock pin to a lock hoop, but if you have a welder, it's dead easy. rgds Frank |

Frank, are you going to coat the inside of the MS piping? Just wondering if condensation will cause surface rust (which can eventually flake off and find it's way into the engine).

I've been thinking about the options myself.. might get it dipped or coated.. or perhaps just a few coats of heat proof paint in and out.

Not bad.. almost a shame to put that stuff on an adapter that will never be seen.. (goes under the charger near where the oil filter normally is.)

Being you're in Perth... go to that ceramic coating place out in Armadale. Can't remember the name of it, Tocchi got a heap of stuff done there though and after seeing it all I would recommend it very highly. That way it's physically bonded to the steel and I doubt you'll have trouble with it rusting and getting into the engine.

Frankieh mate, it's me you're talking to... If know damn well where your bloody S/C is going --- remember - that's another one of my original ideas that has been done a thousand times before. I am new to this after all.
Anyways, might deflect a little heat off the pipe, and if you can jump it together with some other intake parts when all ready to go... Well, hey - I'd say forget painting it at all... You can pull it out and do all that kind of thing once it's done 5,000 in anger... |
