Saw it before when they were up, looks really good.
Only thing that stands out, which I think you mentioned in the other thread anyway, is the lack of belt wrap on the AC comp. Hopefully it isn't too big an issue.

If it is, I'll use some of the slack to add another wheel between harmonic balancer and the air con pushing the belt up.. that should give it more grip.. but the belt is tight and wide.. I can't see it slipping.

yeah.. plumbing next I guess..
I don't want to put this in the car till I have the manual gearbox, 3.45 diff and EL front suspension.. Having said that, I want to have as much in the car ready to go as possible.. which is why I've put the EL ECU in, and why the intercooler and piping will be getting worked out beforehand.. so that when the time comes, everything will be smooth. Then I'll take a week off work and change the whole lot in one hit.. Later on after that I'll change the radiator support and put the EL XR6 front on it. wife doesn't know that yet though she is hoping the charger was the last expense.. |

why EL Front suspension?
seems like a bit of a waste of time. I'd keep the earlier kframe, easier to make 'bigger' things fit

probably.. but it's a whole thing.
And it's not much of a waste of time.. think I could swap the lot over in an hour or so.. and I wanted to put nolathan in all the relevant spots while I was at it. |

OK, I didn't get to do the intercooler because the weather sux and I had to do stuff the wife wanted me to do...
To be honest the Intercooler is not needed yet anyway, lots more pressing stuff to put in that are showstoppers. Today I mounted the TFI module and wired it up and also cut and rerun the heater hose that was where the charger is now. Here is a closeup: The TFI module is mounted to a huge P4 CPU heatsink and that is mounted using the bottom bolt from the heater hose into the block. Still have to seal the connectors up from the elements yet, but that can wait till it's all finished. I also rerouted the wiring so the plugs emerge closer to where they are needed.. Turned out rather well I think. Here is a closer shot. I did not have to cut the main plug to the TFI module either which is a good thing. I really want to get an old TFI module and gut it and just use it as a plug to the dizzy.. then I'll solder all the connectors to reduce the change of resistance. Anyone got an old stuffed TFI module ???? Also, to show how the stealth element is progressing, I stuck a radiator hose on and took a photo from the top.. keep in mind that this engine is not in an engine bay and has a big flash pointed at it.. (no shadows as a result) As you can see, the charger is almost totally concealed... That aspect has worked flawlessly and I'm stoked. I also did some minor adjustments on the pulley's today.. so here are a couple more photos. You can see the re-run heater hose and the inlet to the supercharger in those two photos. Since the motor has been sitting dormant for a while now, I also pulled the plugs and tipped a sizable amount of oil in the holes.. and a litre down the head and turned it over a couple of times to spread the oil around abit.. (cool to see the charger spinning with everything else) What is next? Well, turns out my outlet adaptor is not suitable for this installation so I'm gonna fabricate a new one.. turns out to be pretty easy.. just a flat plate of 3mm steel with an oval hole cut in it.. And a piece of 4" pipe cut on an angle welded to the hole.. Then I'll start getting the pipework on the motor sorted.. Once the engine is ready.. I will pull off all the stuff I've added for a final check and some minor mods, and also to change the dizzy cap and rotor and remote mount the coil... Then I get all the bits required to turn my car into a manual. Good fun.. (oh as you can see, I also rust converted the balancer and sump, those last photos were just too ugly. ) |
