OK.. thats what I'm taking about.. new shim.. I'll stop by veale's tomorrow.

I've just put the spigot bearing in and replaced the rear main seal..

Got the gearbox out of storage and once I've cleaned that up.... on she goes.

I've left the modified EA air con bracket on, and the slightly trimmed engine mount (just a 1/4 inch is taken off the front corner which isn't load bearing.) and I'm remote mounting the coil etc so when the time comes to fit the charger I will be able to just remove the intake manifold and drop it into place.

Hey guys,

I've been looking at this snippet:
Quote:
A non original equipment engine with its turbocharger/supercharger may be installed
under Code LA1 provided the power output is not 20% more than the most powerful
optional engine offered by the manufacturer for that vehicle model.

Of this file:
http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/ ... 011_v3.pdf

That seems to be saying that I can do it easy (LA1 is much easier than LA3) if I put a non standard boosted engine in rather than add boost to the existing engine.

Interesting question, is:
What was the most powerful engine ever offered in an EL? would that be the EL GT with 200kW ?? (geeze, that's pretty crap by todays standards isn't it?)

I know ford did make a supercharged EL, but did they ever register it?
Does anyone know if any kits using the M90 on an i6 have been ADR certified?

cheers

Frank

They will use the car type you are using ie possibly use as a standard the ELXR8 185kw at the flywheel, which will give you 222kw at the fly, approx 165RwKw. GT is a seperate animal and even if you can use that as a standard, you are looking at 240Kw at the fly and approx 180RwKw. You can get that Na with effort and you can definatly get better than 165RwKw with headwork and cam etc. Mind you the torque with the blower will be great.

mate good stuff, if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask, on my second charger ,rebuilt complete blower ,ported it to mpx spec brought new coated rotors, dont know what power hasnt been on dyno, only two down here and they dont know much about the wolf v500 any how,but the seat of the pants dyno, well she halls

all i can say is dont worry about the head gaskets yet till you see how much boost you get, if your running stock cam the over lap will limit you to about 6 psi with a 2.7 inch pulley the smallest you can run without machining the snout, that will give you 2.4:1 crank ratio and keep the blower blow the 14000 red line if you use 5800 engine rpm

top stuff, keep going

Great work! Good idea on moving the coil and getting everything ready so that you can plug & play the charger a little down the track.

Cheers

I was going to put the remote mount oil filter kit in too but decided not to till till its over the pits as its not that hard to fit later and the pit inspector would probably question it and I don't want that happening till I'm ready.

Thanks xfpaul, 6psi is a good starting point. I was actually. Looking to machine the snout and get a 8 to 9 psi pulley.. I've never revved over 5500 anyway and I'm not after monster power... would like to pull a low 14 high 13 Quater would be nice. But that's all... mostly just want strong low end.

im running 9.6:1 stock au compression and with the boost that gives me 12.7:1 effective comp, she needs the intercooler and always run bp ultimate no probs

I have a pretty good water to air setup to go in.. intercooler from Subaru turbo, electric pump from ebay and a cooler/thermo for up front. temp should not be a problem.

Eventually I'd like to run gas injection and run gas only.. but for now the HV fuel pump, rising reg and xr computer should do the job.. I'll add a TI chip once I know what it needs.

I've got an autometer air/fuel meter to help keep it safe also...

can be done, one of three ways, draw in before the blower via mixer ring, blow through after the blower must understand ram air equalization, direct injection either liquid or gas, draw in is the easy way but will cause a restiction ahead of the blower/throtle body

had draw in myself worked fine, going for direct inject next and just to confuse it a bit more i am working on putting nos through the same injectors

three levels- gas, petrol, petrol and nos

Hi toranaguy... the clutch fork shim only has a very small groove on it... I went to replace it, but veale didn't have it so I'm just gonna turn it over so the groove is against the bellhousing. Is there any issue with doing that?

Edit: That sounds so newbie that I'd better explain that I mean "it isnt' case hardended on one side or anything is it?" by asking if it's ok to turn over.

I suppose if it was case hardened it would wear out the fork instead so I'd guess the answer is no.

It's designed to be a replacable 'wear' pad. So I'd say flip it.
Unless it was worn halfway through where flipping it might cause it to bend.
