well, $50 you could have spent towards decent bosch or similar pump :)

Yes probably, but I was on a budget and the pump wont be working hard anyway as you say. If money was no object, I'd by a genuine Subaru turbo pump ... all metal all the way.... I was on a budget at the time so I bought what I could afford.. now I have more, but I'll try this one first and see how I go.. when it fails I will get a shurflo or something else as good.

Engine starts... timing was out which was to be expected.. but sadly I have a water leak pissing out near the water pump... will be using a mirror tomorrow to see where it's coming from.

Car runs and is totally together now, but I've still not tried the manual.. :-(
Oh well, at least it starts and nothing seems to be hitting...

Water was the heater pipe to the water pump on the exhaust side... replaced O ring and no leakie now.

Car runs like a dream and goes like a shower of s**t... now to get it ready to go over the pits and then I can go back to putting the charger in.

I do have a question or two though. In the little plastic box where the clutch cable goes, there is the lever going through the thrust bearing and the cable... and the round thing that grabs the cable and sits in the lever bowl. is that all that is supposed to be in there? it seems like if the cable stretches a little, the end would fall out of the round thing which just hooks around the T piece on the end of the cable... There has to be something else in there. My book doesn't tell me what that is.

Also, how did you route the cable? I've never seen one of these set up so I just tried a few ways and choose what seemed to have the shallowest curves on the cable.. would like to match standard though if possible..... anyone clue me in ? (might ask in drivetrain too.)

Hi frankieh great build! Yeah there is actually meant to be a spring on the clutch pedal that keeps slight tension on the cable, ie stopping that hook doing nasties. Simply goes from the pedal to the pedal box. You can get them new from Ford for nothing. I'll try to get some pics for you.

Also the cable runs down past the extractors and follows the Rack with a clip

Not that much to report sadly.

I've collected all the bits I need to bolt it all in now, just have to take the car over the pits for the post manual conversion inspection. Before I do that, I have to change out all the ball joints (replacements have all arrived.) install my camber kit, replace one of the tie rods (car is so low it seems to chew them out) and a bunch of other little things. Once that is done, I'll pull the intake manifold out and start bolting the charger in. Since I have already had it fit to the engine that is now in the car, I don't expect any mounting issues. The engineers I've been talking to may want me to beef up the mounting though.

wish I have better more interesting news for you guys, but I have a wife and three small children and the amount of time I get to work on stuff for my car is extremely limited at the moment.. It won't be like that for too long, but it makes getting stuff done hard.

Don't worry frankieh, we all go thru times in life when we can't get much done on our projects. Hang in there as mentioned, you will find more time & get it done.

Cheers
