I didn't get much done this weekend as I'd have liked because I had to pay the i6 that is actually in the car now some attention. (wouldn't idle) turned out the intake manifold was loose. I did rewire the feed for the trip computer on the EL ecu so I have an accurate trip computer again..
I also figured out how to get the pressurized air from the intercooler to the intake without it being easily visible. (at least the last bit where it needs to get onto the intake from underneath.) I could have run one 2.5 inch pipe up though the intake runners onto the intake, but that would have required the air do more than a 90 degree turn at speed.. not good for flow. I will still do it that way, but inside of one 2.5 inch pipe, I am going to use 2 or 3 2" pipes, probably rubber or silicon, that will go though a runner each and meet at a collector on the intake that I will make. This way will still be fairly well hidden, and the air will be directed much better then it otherwise would have been. (I can even position the inlets so that it creates a spiral vortex into the intake manifold..) I only have to do this because I really want a stealth install.. If I wasn't concerned, I could just run a big pipe onto the top.. but this will be cooler and more effective.. and not really that much work.. I basically get two pieces of 3 inch pipe, and weld smaller pipes into it at the correct angles... will be an interesting execise. |

Thats ok mate.... I'm still waiting for bits and pieces to arrive and thinking out the next steps. (going to rig up the dizzy so it is easy to change the timing from above.

Hey,
Just a question, Is your Eaton s/c a M90 or M62, looks a little short to be a M90, could be just me though LoL

Its definitely an M90....
It does have a short snout.. but its off a mustang V6 so that's to be expected. I've seen photos of M90's online that looked identical to mine. |

Ah very cool,
Im looking at fitting a terra charger to my EL, but im gonna machine an adaptor plate on the factory intake. i like how you have mounted the blower, you wouldnt notice it if you didnt know it was there!! What sort of boost are you looking to run intercooled/non-intercooled?? If intercooling are you going to use air to air or water to air? Cheers Mike

Just found a small package on the bench... wife put it there and didn't see fit to tell me...
So yes Mr Huggiebear.. thank you very much for that.. I'm going to go straight out and chop the plug off the end... thanks again. rgds Frank |

OK, a little update..
I got huggiebears TFI module.. since he said he was sending it and that it was a working one, I actually hacked up my one instead as it looked abit dodgy anyway. (the plug was cracked)... and now I have hollowed it out of all electronics and used a multimeter to find the correct 3 internal terminals to solder the wires onto. then used wiretie internally and then alaldite to lock it all in, and finially filled it up completely with silicon and I now have a dizzy plug to remote mount the TFI... many thanks again Mr Huggiebear! I have a couple of photos of this that I'll put up later.... not brain surgery though... I've gotten a new dizzy cap and rotor.. going to pull it all out (charger and all brackets etc) again and do the following. 1. remove a tiny bit of metal from my custom pulley mounting point which will give it another 1.5 cm of belt adjustment, if my belt stretches I may need it. 2. Put some insulation at the contact point of the charger body and the intake manifold to stop the intake from heating up. 3. Look into insulating the intake manifold itself from the head with a custom gasket (or two) for the same reason as above. If I'm gonna inter-cool (and I am) then I don't want the mixture getting hot afterward. 4. Create a system whereby the timing can be adjusted easily while the charger is in place.. It can be done easy enough now, but I want it really easy to do as I expect lots of tinkering when it's all up and running and if I hear it knocking while out on the road.. I want to be able to retard it easily while out there. 5. Change the oil and coupler on the supercharger.. they guy I got it from said it was already done. I don't trust him and I don't want to have to pull this out again later. The new coupler is from the US (ZZperformance) and is apparently far better than the eaton one... total cost 50 bucks with SC oil included and delivered to WA. Good cheap insurance to my mind. 6. finish remote mounting the TFI module (all that is left is putting the new above mentioned TFI dizzy plug in place and hooking it to the TFI in it's new location) and then make the whole lot look as factory as possible. I just got some more cash too.. so going to get started on the manual GB conversion too.. want to put the motor and GB in at the same time.. hate putting GB in car while motor is in.. promised myself never to do that again the last time I did it. So I will investigate the clutch pedal situation and see if I can fabricate anything to avoid pulling out the dash. (something else I promised myself not to do again if I could avoid it.) I expect that finishing the wiring is going to take a while as I've got about 35 more wires to figure out and trace.. the EL look seems to have about 3 times the number of wires coming out that the EA-ED does not. Slow work, but I only plan on doing it once so doing it properly the first time. Anyway, stilling having fun... and still more or less on budget for a total of 1500-2000 for total end result. (that doesnt' count not supercharger related stuff..) Also, I just picked up a Warlbro 255Lt hi pressure fuel pump for 95 bucks delivered.. so now I have the following (hardware for supercharging): - M90 supercharger. $600 - Hi volume/pressure fuel pump. $95 - Rising rate fuel regulator. $60 - Giant intercooler. $150 - Remote oil filter kit. $99 - new coupler and sc oil $49 total comes to $1053 thus far.. those prices are not exact, going from memory, but in the right ballpack... Gotta love Ebay Going to buy and build the autospeed.com air/fuel mixture guage kit and intake temp sensor and also water injection, the later can wait till everything else is done but the others will be done beforehand so I can calibrate the "safe" mixture based on my existing NA ED motor. thats it for now.. Not really that big a job if it was just the SC by itself.. but I'm doing the EL motor and front end swap and converting to a manual while at it.. (diff too if I can afford it)
But you have to have a hobby right? |

Hi MIKES_EL6
I didn't see your post up there.. I'm aiming for somewhere around 10PSI boost.. initially with an Air to air intercooler and water injection. Later on I will devise a good water to air intercooler which will help hide things even more and save a couple of PSI that will be lost with the massive intercooler I have now. I want the charger install to be a stealth as possible... so putting it on a log manifold and cutting my bonnet ribbing wasn't an option.. I had quiet enough attention from the cops when I was younger to want more now. |

Good work - one day I will be putting a small supercharger into the cavity that the air con will leave behind when it meets my 2000w angle grinder.
ONE DAY... You gotta have a hobby, right? Since I just got a Toyota Supra Turbo fuel pump and six injectors out of a TS Magna 95 and I have three Ford EF motors sitting there, I am beginning to think I could run a water tank and use one of the original Ford fuel rails and injectors to stick water into the mix and cool things down that way. Could possibly stick water directly into the inlet manifolds (space permitting..) Ahhh well... This project may be years away yet - Although have bought a cheap intercooler and a $300NZ blower from a Toyota that I'll have to rev the snot out of to keep it pressuring at high engine revs. All good watching your growing project and dreaming about mine in the meantime. |

Send the magna injectors over here dude... I've not been able to find any thus far.
