Just an update, every bolt is as tight as i can get them, bought a gates racing belt and threw that on. It seems at very high revs (5000 +) that the belt distorts a bit, making it skip the grooves, this time it skipped inwards so i just left it alone.
How tight should the belt be? |

Its a shame you can't run a tensioner aye.
rule of thumb for belt tightness- allow an inch of movement when you press on it.

Hmm supercharges can be a real pain in the a**, my bro had an 01 xr8 pursuit and had a full kit from capa and he had nothing but trouble with belts shredding and popping off, he ended up just selling it all and left it standard.

theres a belt tensioner on it, you can't see it in the pic. Started the engine and the belt moved so i tightened it down more with the tensioner, not as bad but still noticed the belt had changed a groove.
I'l see how this goes, but at $70 a belt i might consider a turbo |

yeh turbo is the way i think.my bros supercharger belt used to have to be real tight but, there not meant to be super tight because you can snap the pulley area on the charger.

Have it checked out millzy. the belt should last just as long as your normal auxiliary belt. its either an alignment or rigid issue.

It's obviously out of alignment.
Hang in there man you'll get it.

rule of thumb for belt tightness- allow an inch of movement when you press on it. Should be as tight as possible for the blower belt if it isnt running any accesories (ie separate belt), if it is running other accesories then you should have a little bit more slack as all the other accesories will prevent slip as well as having enough wrap. I am thinking about stepping up to 10 psi myself, I will have to sort out the tensioner though, at high revs pushing a pulley with 8 psi pressure on it is enough for very slight slippage, enough for boost to stutter to around 5..

Belts coming off?
Always an alignment issue. Get out the straight edge and get busy, you will cure it. Other thing, you must run an auto tensioner, if not drama's will be your thing for ever more, just like the kit mentioned by mustang6. Without an auto tensioner, you are doomed to belt slip and throwing belts ...... period It is the most frustrating thing but only the result of poor engineering practice.

Trust me i've got it lined up properly- straight edge and all
Now how tight should the belt be?, one says some play others tighten it as far as it goes- what's the go here. Also can you fit an auto tensioner?, or is this one of the many design faults by STA? thanks again |

Tried to ring you today Tim, but your phone was off.....
Anyway warping is definitely my problem, but is an auto tensioner going to fix this?- contemplating my options now Do you (raptor SC) stock these tensioners, tried searching- but will ring around tomorrow cheers |

Very handy to have a s/c specialist on board eh? can't say much about the turdbo supplier/specialist. LOL
they don't know what they're missing out on...... That reminds me, is your manually adjusted tensioner have a bit of play or wobble if you wiggle it by hand?
