As the proud owner of a EL-XR6 (5yrs)... there is no way Im getting rid of it, Ive had some modifications done to it at Jim Mock Motorsports, at a little under $4000, and Im more than reasonably happy with the outcome of 144 rwkws 8-) , modifications done to the car all up are as follows, Pacemakers and reasonable exhaust, Streetfighter cam and head, upgraded the air intake, 255x45x17 rear, 235x45x17 fronts, suspension modifications, and now Im looking to installing a high-stall convertor, and maybe chiptorque installation also :D , now..... Im on a budget like most of you out there, and I'd like to bring up the rwkws to at least around the 230 mark, any ideas out there that would be of use, would be greatly appreciated, Im trying to stay away from turbos and superchargers if I can...

Congratulations on joining the forum! So far, i dont believe anyone has significantly beaten the 200kw boundary with a naturally aspirated i6 ford motor. Your best bet would be to go for some forced air of some snort, with either a supercharger, or a home grown turbocharger kit. Snort also make up kits for turbocharging the 6, with some good feedback from forum members.

230?!
Your only option is forced induction, but you'd still be looking at least 10k for that sort of power.

Also note that your head and cam from JMM will be of no use to you if you go down the forced induction route.

Be interesting to see how that head/cam combo handle some boost... turbo cars with big cams are becoming the go for jap motors

Cheapest and most fun option is the good old N20.

Still thinkin about the idea, but the more I think of natural aspiration for the 6, I know I'll be spending big bucks for little return, and if Im gonna be spending big bucks on a turbo, then, Ive been toying with the idea of a AU111 5.0l 220kw mtr, I can pick one up done 32,000 ks for $1,700, but no pwr pmp, alt, or air, $600 for an auto tranny, has anyone done this conversion, if so, is there a posting anywhere in here on one..?.. plus I heard that for little cost and effort the 220kw mtr can be brought up to 260kw, I'd like to hear from someone whos done the conversion, to find out what the real cost is on something like this, thanx for your input guys, greatly appreciated.

With the head and cam youve got you should probably go with nitrous. A lot less hassle than a turbo and you will be able to retain your head and cam, extractors ect. downside is that you cant use it on the road and you have to keep re-filling the bottle

Yea....thought about Nitro but, I'd like something with more street grunt I can use anytime I want it, without going to the refilling expense every so often, so Nitros out for me....

You can buy alot of nitrous for what you are looking at paying for any other option.

plus you have to factor in the extra cost you will be paying for fuel running a supercharger. I belive turbo's will be more econimic if you take advantage of the extra torque and it doesnt deliver power too high. That would mean going for a lower diff ratio though, offsetting the advantage to an extent
