After my disappointing gain from changing to a smaller pulley on the weekend, I've organised Tim from Raptor SC to rebuild my Powerdyne. It's getting the full works - the new improved impeller which will create more boost up top and the boost will come in lower. Upgraded bearings and belt to handle more internal RPM and the active air cooling kit to hopefully keep her running for longer...
Should be sweet, just wish she was ready already... Puts it into the same league as the Vortech V1 T-Trim and the Raptor V. |

Dunno about the Vortech V1 T Trim, they have straight cut gears (no belts) can handle 55 000rpm impellor speed and can generate up to 26psi boost. Maybe a V2 SQ but even they handle up to 20psi..

Maybe a V2 SQ but even they handle up to 20psi.. Your right, maybe not then. With the new impellor, 928Motorsport have reved it up to 72,000rpm. It's designed to still be efficient up to 60,000rpm. But I think they reckon only 16psi boost - not really an issue as I plan to only run 9psi ATM. |

twr7cx, what was the result of fitting the smaller pulley, for 9psi?
I've got the kit you described from Tim, fitted to the powerdyne on my AU. The stronger belt is much louder, so hope you like that! The impeller appears to have increased intake air temps on my car, meaning the tune has to be richer and I've lost power at this stage. Seems to bring power in a little earlier though. I'm currently setting up an intercooler to get this back, but I don't think this will be an issue for you as you have a front mount from memory. Has Tim looked at how the air cooling kit will fit with your powerdyne/bracket positioning? I sent him photos of my setup, and he concluded that active air cooling couldn't be fitted to mine. I imagine your EF/L would have similar capa setup? Good luck with it all and hopefully you get the power your looking for on the wagon. I'm still chasing a reliable/powerful compromise on my powerdyne....they're tricky to get working well! when do you get it back and driving? Joe

Result of the 2.5" pulley was not much. At best I'll see 7psi at the moment.
I already have a front mount intercooler, so cooling the charged air shouldn't be an issue - this is the reason I currently have so little boost. Due to the long 3" piping to the intercooler and the intercooler, the Powerdyne has a lot more air to compress. Hopefully with the new impeller it should be capable of doing this to 9psi. I'd be interested to know how different it would be with 2.5" piping instead of the 3". I still need to get a larger exhaust as well. I don't see why the active air cooling won't be able to be set up. Even on yours. This is where he put it on one of the first units: {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} {DESCRIPTION} I see no issue why that would foul on the CAPA brackets or there belts. Only issue may be the exit hole on the bottom being slightly blocked. |

hey, i have the charger upgrade on my EF XR6, dont know if you know of my car WORKD-6... When first installed with a smaller pulley(cant remember the size exacltly) it saw 13psi. Now its been tuned a bit better, its doing 204.3rwkw @8psi. I had alot of trouble getting more boost to start with. The current set-up has the ceramic bearings, raptor belt, billet impeller, smaller pulley and venting. Still with the standard water injection
