long time and no posts i know but its now time to rebuild my ef 4l donk as its blowing smoke.
pulled down the moter today and bores and rods look good as do the bearing but as for pistons and rings are a real mess. my question is should i try find standerd bore pistons or bite the bullit and go 20 thou over bore. acl only sell 20 thou for what i have seen. i will just be running standerd internals with 10 psi as my experience to date has been fine. cheers.

ACL rebuild will be fine for 10 psi
chuck on a permaseal 1.3mm head gasket if you plan on upping the boost in the future
Spool rods and CP pistons can be had pretty cheap thats what ill be doing when the time comes
however ACL gear will be fine if your on a budget

Ok so finished rebuild used hypatec pistons, hastings rings and bearings. I used standerd piston size and did not go overbore as the bores was in good condition. used an au gasket and genuine head bolts. motor back in now and sounds sweet will be changing the 1.32 exhaust housing to a 0.96 and retuning with 12psi. will put some pics up soon. (EBXR ring gap was 0.45mm )
