I would have to find one of my logs on my other computer but from memory I had boost around 2000 rpm full 19 psi boost by 3500 rpm. It used to come on boost fairly hard when running the electronic boost control in the Autronic ECU. That was a manual transmission then too. An auto would be different.

The problem with that engine was everything was choking by 4800 rpm. I had actually grafted an EF XR6 style inlet manifold on the crossflow engine and was running a cam with 230 duration @ 0.050" and still peaked out at 4800 rpm. With the bigger turbo, custom shorter inlet runners and bigger cam my engine is now much laggier but pulls hard to 5800 rpm and would probably go further if I wasn't worried about breaking the engine.

Well I've desided to turbo my car, an EFII Fairmont. The things done to the car so far are:
"Gas Reaserch Australia" gas system fitted,
rings and bearings done 25K (24months) ago,
wade 1604 cam, 3.45LSD.
And i have a spare tranny waiting to go in but i might wait untill the turbo is in and build up a strong auto!

I'm aimong for 200 - 220rwkw to beging with, with the motor as is and running on straight LPG, i have a second gas converter. I have the intention of getting this fully engineered and legal on the road in VIC.

I'll try to keep a running table of what it has cost me so far:
- 600x300x76mm intercooler from ebay $145
- boost gauge & cup (Speco Meter) $63
- 1 metre of 40mm black steel $10
- 4x90degree 40mm black steel bends ($5each) $20
- exuast flange plates $70
- stuffed E series head $20
- Master Power T60 turbo $980
- Turbo dump exaust flange $10
- Plumb back BOV $64

Total so far: $1362

The turbo I got is:
The specs to the Master Power T-60 are...

floating bearing with 360deg thrust. Oil cooled.

compressor
T-seires T-60, 60.5mm/84mm
.7ar comp housing using reflow (antisurge 4" inlet, 2.5" outlet)

Turbine
mpbt 74trim ( GT P trim) 1.00ar

Approx 620hp.

Pic of turbo on page 4

This is a thed of mine desiding on what turbo to get
{DESCRIPTION}

It's only early days for me so far, I've started to make my own manifold (similar to 6Boost's old desgn, pic below)

This is how far gotten at the moment

Aftere some welding & grinding, 14/11/2006

18/11/2006
I got the intercooler mounted up, pics on second page!

4/12/2006
The turbo arrived

8/12/2006
BOV arrived!

One issue I have at the moment is how I'm going to put the external wastegate in
- plumb it into the manifold somewhere
or
- get someone to weld it onto the turbine....
Where did u get all da measurements from for the manifold as i was told dat they have 2 be all tuned lenghts ?

do you mind me asking why you are running a larger cam with a turbo setup? i thought for a basic turbo setup you are better off using stock cam and making the power with the boost, to avoid ecu hassles with the cam being a bit rough, or is the 1604 alot smoother than i remember

1604's pretty mild.. turbo causes enough ECU problems... the cam is the least of the problems.
