Well I've desided to turbo my car, an EFII Fairmont. The things done to the car so far are:
"Gas Reaserch Australia" gas system fitted,
rings and bearings done 25K (24months) ago,
wade 1604 cam, 3.45LSD.
And i have a spare tranny waiting to go in but i might wait untill the turbo is in and build up a strong auto!

I'm aiming for 200 - 220rwkw to beging with, with the motor as is and running on straight LPG, i have a second gas converter. I have the intention of getting this fully engineered and legal on the road in VIC.

I'll try to keep a running table of what it has cost me so far:
- 600x300x76mm intercooler from ebay $145
- boost gauge & cup (Speco Meter) $63
- 1 metre of 40mm black steel $10
- 6x90degree 40mm black steel bends ($5each) $30
- exuast flange plates $70
- stuffed E series head $20
- Master Power T60 turbo $980
- Turbo dump exaust flange $10
- Plumb back BOV $64
- 46mm wastegate 6.8psi $184
- collector work from the engineers $250

Total so far: $1806

The turbo I got is:
The specs to the Master Power T-60 are...

floating bearing with 360deg thrust. Oil cooled.

compressor
T-seires T-60, 60.5mm/84mm
.7ar comp housing using reflow (antisurge 4" inlet, 2.5" outlet)

Turbine
mpbt 74trim ( GT P trim) 1.00ar

Approx 620hp.

Pic of turbo on page 4

This is a thed of mine desiding on what turbo to get
{DESCRIPTION}

It's only early days for me so far, I've started to make my own manifold (similar to 6Boost's old desgn, pic below)

This is how far gotten at the moment

Aftere some welding & grinding, 14/11/2006

18/11/2006
I got the intercooler mounted up, pics on second page!

4/12/2006
The turbo arrived

8/12/2006
BOV arrived!

22/12/2006
Got a 46mm wastegate 6.8psi
One issue I have at the moment is how I'm going to put the external wastegate in
- plumb it into the manifold somewhere
or
- get someone to weld it onto the turbine....
issue solved!!!

8/01/2007
Finally got the collector back from the engineers!!!
Pics as promissed...

I did some cutting and hole drilling today... Still gotta drill two more for cyl 3&4 into the collector, then i can finish welding the bastard up!!!
Undernieth...

Keep us posted! It will be good to see another turbo thread. The more the better.

Not sure about the issue mate. Good luck.

Like the idea, looking forward to how it turns out. For the exhaust manifold, can't you just use the existing log manifold and weld the flange where it all meets?

Are you talking about using the STD exuast manifold like CHEF did???

Coz if you are I don't want to do that, i want something that flows a little better...

just wondering mr.kiss, just cos i like seeing all custom fabrication work, we have made a few exhaust manifolds, and custom ally plenums, and use a tig for everything we weld.. looking at your manifold i wondered if you had a tig or what sort of fabrication experience you have??

Well i dont realy have much experience at, it's been(still is) a big learning curve. I learn't how to ARK weld at school about 4 or 5 years ago, then i didnt touch our MIG welder at home untill about a month ago to teach myself again.

But one thing i have done is made up all the brackets and stuff for my GRA gas setup (pics in gallery <<<<), which I'll have to relocate the converter and put the other one in.

Wont the STD exhaust manifold flow better than a basic log design manifold anyday... How about running a J pipe..?

I looked at doing that but doesn't look like there would be enough room once the dump pipe goes thought the same area.
And plus it would be a bit laggy :D
