im sure there must be an advantage from better spark at some point..
i can go as high as 17-18psi before i get spark issues with the std coil..

wether or not i would actually get more power or better efficiency from upgrading the coil is something that i would be interested in??

i did a back to back test of both a standard coil and msd coil , same dyno same time same day , did one run with standard coil and then swapped coil in a matter of 1 min and i gained 10kw from the msd. so yeah i think theres a benifit with changing them .there just plug and play , just need to change the wiring from the ev1 plug to to wires

hey guys just got a ICE 4200 pro series coil for my ea just need to cut factory plug off and fit some eyelet terminals
i too think there are some minor gains to be had down low [low boost] but as i am going for 20 - 22psi on wednesday i am confident i will have good spark at these boost levels where the standard coil would fail to deliver a strong spark .
i will let u know how it all goes on wednesday
cheers for your input

If your runing after market ECU ??
G.M coils can take some power..
They run at higher dwell, more spark..
Have built in igniters too..

The MSD Streetfire CDI (5520) is perfect for these cars as all it does is boost the spark and add multi-spark. It leaves the timing to the ECU, which is fine these days with the J3 chips so plentiful now and so many shops with the ability to tune them.

I have used MSD in the past but latley I have found the
quality of there low end products wanting.. Chassing an ignition miss
for some time.. Then went wasted spark, did away with MSD ..
Cured my ignition issues... The digital ign seems o/k...
