excellent, any updates on what you did about pistons and comp ratio???

just wondering what sort of power you are aiming for with this car?? as 870cc injectors are MASSIVE, they will support around 580rwkw, or 780fwkw... what are the wolf's like at controlling big injectors at very small opening times, like these injectors will be at idle???

for example, i think my 580cc siemens are at only 4-6ms at idle, dont quote that though, thats off the top of my head, i imagine 870's would be 2-4?? thats VERY small

hell, i just ran my car to check my injector time at idle, with a 1100rpm idle at 12.5:1 mixture (my car likes a rich idle) my injector time is between 2.7-2.9ms...

i hate to think how small injector time 870cc injectors are going to have

I'm chasing 300rwkw and maybe a bit more for comps, not sure how good my setup will work with the 870cc injectors i haven't had it running with turbo on yet, still building new motor. My pistons are giving me probs cause the website says they will bring compression up to 9.6:1 but not sure yet, i have a head with out the swirl so not sure. Anyone got any ideas how to get compression down with out decomp plate?

Here is a photo of my quick intercooler mount up

did you see my post about pistons??

i pretty much summed up the situation, i was in the exact same boat, exept that my engine had done 5000km n/a before i went turbo, so i wasnt building the engine at the time i realisd i had problems...

you can get 2cc out the head, the rest has to come from gasket thickness...

bout $50, they are just a piece of steel, i know as much as anyone else that they arent ideal... BUT, i have been pushing 17psi into mine, no problems so far....

oh, btw, ive reached the limit of my 580cc injectors, about 340-350rwkw.. they were maxxed out on the dyno at 328kw on 14lb, we have since tried richening it over 5000rpm, only to find, we cant make it any richer... it pulls back to 12.5:1 at 5800, so ive lowered my limiter to 5500 until i get some bigger squirters, curently running 16-17psi, and its got plenty of fuel up to 5k, thats where they run out of puff

im going to buy the 72lb, 766cc siemens, same as my current ones, just the next size up

Just took my valves out, they were all carboned up lol i'm going to re-seat them. I think i mite use 1.5mm shims and o-ring the head, anyone heard of this? it will bring my compression from 9.6:1 to 8.6:1 so yeah mite give it a go

Ok so i'm going to drop the race pistons, i spoke to a guy at acl and hes said there no stronger than normal acl replacement pistons except they have as 12cc dish rather than a 5cc dish, so i'm trying to sell my race series pistons.

bigger dish = lower comp = more boost.

they are infact stronger, where was the guy from?? acl. or an acl dealer??

the race series have a higher silicone content, which makes them a hypereutectic piston, they are basically made with the same material as most forged pistons

the race series also have the smaller dish, not a bigger dish, its the 3.9 pistons that have a 12cc dish, and 4.0 have the 5cc dish, but you cant just drop 3.9 pistons in since they have a 1mm smaller bore, you need o/s 3.9 and the bore made to suit
