hey guys, just wanting some input on my build up.its an xf,ebii 4ltr-forged pistons/shotpeened rods/balanced bottom end/custom crow cam and valve springs donated from a 10 sec el/head studs/c9 fully manulised trans/2600 convertor/3.27 eb lsd diff.the turbo is a gt40 800 roller/custom intercooler/45mm wastegate/twin b2 gas convertors/gas research 480 throttle body/custom alloy radiator.im hoping for comfortable 12 sec passes as im not greedy on power.it will also be part show car and just a weekend cruiser.this is my first and only build up.by the time it is finished the car will be at least 80% brand new.trying to put as many new parts as possible.any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

you have it sorted I would say just gotta put it together, would suggest twin lines and lockoffs on each converter, just to be safe.
It will do better than 12's I'll put money on that!!!! What inlet manifold? XF EFI would work pretty well if it fits on that engine. |

jumping up to a 510 instead of what you have might benefit, only costs 100$ to change the diffuser, thats what the red one runs.
Are you going to run H20/meth or just meth? I don't think you will need it, just fill up with straight propane and you'll be more than happy. |

i was thinking just meth only.i might go to gas research (there only around the corner from work)and find out about getting the 480 converted to a 510 like u said.any thoughts about the injection would be great as its my first time using it(if its worth it).the car will be a weekend cruiser and the strip once a month, part show.

I've heard its not an easy job to put the 4lt into the XF bay... isnt it too long or something?

nah,one of my tech that work for me is in relation to the red xe that runs tens, said it basically sat straight in with standard xf mounts not xg.ive spoken with another chappy that has fitted a 4ltr in an xe and had no probs..there is one other that fitted a standard ef 4ltr in an xd and bolted up ok.

I have a ef 4 litre in my xf. I found that the motor bolts up to the mounts ok but it sits the motor lower in the engine bay. I found that when the weight was off the wheels the standard xf swaybar touches the sump so i put in the xg lower mounts with e series upper mounts (EA to ED).
I also put an xg swaybar in to help clear the sump. You might get away with the xf mounts and swaybar but i just wanted to make sure the the job was done once and done right for my own piece of mind. I was fairly sure that when the weight was on the wheels the swaybar cleared the sump. Since all of these changes i have also had to swap the broardband intake manifold for an e series multi point manifold from EA to ED to clear the bonnet as now the motor sits higher. Oh and lots of other stuffing around which i wont bore you with right now. If i can help you out any along the way feel free to ask questions. |
