I'd put a 10psi spring into the gate and see how that performs as i dont really think the gates position is your prob... Kyle wouldnt make a manifold with a poorly positioned gate.

If your happy with it thats all that matters... I bet your loving it hey

have a look in the first couple of pages. the wastegate is taped into the turbine housing, this was supposto be the best way to do it, but i put it in on a 90* angle, wich is wrong.

yes the timing is all good, i didnt need to do the mode. every thing is perfect when the lead angle is set at 89degrees. i also got hyperdrive to cheak it all, and they said it was fine.

i realy want the boost controller bak on, because the boost come on so hard it wasnt funny but with it on there is to much boost.

well, put the boost controller back on dude, all youll have to do is set the boost setpoint to 190kpa... then itll keep the gate closed til 13psi, then open it, it wont make it run too much boost, no more than 13psi anyway

oh, and with the timing, seriously dude, i dont beleive it would be all fine without the chopper being moved... it may well be, but hey, if you wanna bet your engine on it....

also, i bet my balls they didnt bother to check the timing of all cylinders?????? for example, i have one cylinder with a ign trim of -5.5degrees... 4 of my cylinders needed trimming. most were a degree or two, but still. an extra 5 degrees on one cylinder that you dont know about will soon turn that piston into an ashtray

not trying to be rude, its just, i know the problems that have been associated with this setup, me and another guy tried all sorts, i got it working, he didnt trust his engine with it so went with a twin hall sensor magna dizzy setup. AND you say, youve done nothing and it happens to be working 100% FINE??

oh, check your balancer, if you dont have 3 tdc marks, then id bet they didnt check timing on all cylinders

with the boost controler, when i set it up for 190kpa the boost controler becomes nosiy untill u get to about 210kpa.

ok ok i will check all the timing again this weekend.

ok, but does it stay flat at 210kpa?? see, the point is, it doesnt necesarily have to match that number initially, like the 190 and 210, what you have to do is tune it for the most flat boost curve you can, and then once its controlling properly, you can put the kpa diffeence between setpoint and actual into the boost offset table. like you would put a 20kpa offset in the table.

There is nothing wrong with the positioning of that wastegate from the turbine. It is the best place considering the way everthing is setup. I take it that the turbine is a single entry unit. Even if it were a split pulse it would not be the cause of your boost problem.

The problem lies elsewhere.

i hooked up the controler agian and found i could control boost at all.

today i jut had its hooked up normal, with no controler. just had a vacume line strait to the pressure side, and set the computer on data log. and now i am getting 16psi, so it seams its getting whorse some how??

i have checked the vacume line for leaks, pressure tested the wastegate and they are ok. but i found that the 4psi sping opened at 10psi and my 12psi spring opened at 25psi, so i am gessing that the exhaust gasses help open it a little.

now i am gonna do wat ebs_4l did and just remove the gate altogether and see wat happens.

the exuast housing is split pulse!!
were else do u recon there could be a problem???
hows ur ed going???

hay does anyone know how much boost psi the standard valve springs are good for???

heres a pic of wat the engine bay looks like now!
this pic was taken with my moblie, not bad quality ay!!!

hey fritzz, i cant beleive i havent heard of anyone else complain of overboosting before, but now, theres 2-3 of us at the same time, chasing the same problem..... all with different wastegate setups etc

yeh me, u and delta. but delta is bad hes getting somthing like 28psi i think.

na i havent had a chance to check the timing, but there is marks on the flywheel so hyperdrive must of checked it, but there isnt any trims modifid in the ecu.
