My bellhousing looks like a T5 one that has been welded up to suit the tremec box.

The TKO 600 is a direct swap minus the splines. A TKO 500 is a direct replacement for my tremec box.

Mine just an adapter to space the shifter back an inch or 2 to fit in the standard EA hole.

The plastic under the centre console has been removed so it doesnt rub on the shifter bracket.

thanks, does it still use the ford speedo sensor?

Yep, I think so but the speedo is way off. Ive got a jaycar kit to fix it when I get the car back.

According to Mal wood I can get a replacement speedo sensor to make it close but not spot on. There is a thread on AFF where Im trying to identify my box with this info in it.

Before I was banned of course.

Disagreement with the admin. I discourage dreamers and the like and they promote them because they agree to everything that they say.

Fordmods and performance forums ftw.

fritzz: can you detail the install of the TKO box for us all? eg: if you have to make an adaptor/spacer or mod the T5 bellhousing in any way.

So far my efforts extend to trial fitting a single-fail box onto the T5 bellhousing as i didn't have a top loader laying around at that stage. Anyway appeared to go straight on but required to be re-drilled for the mounting pattern (simple enough).

You mention the spacer is required due to input shaft length? Is this because you have a GM application TKO?

Dan: how/where did they weld up your bellhousing? covering old holes?

/As Dan knows, i went the C10 auto route but would ultimately love to get my grubby mits on a TKO600.

Yeah they welded the old holes.

I need to get pics of it all for you guys to tell the difference but its still in the workshop. I havent had a standard bellhousing and my one side by side yet.

The gearbox-bellhousing bolts go into the box from the inside of the bellhousing, I think that is different to standard.

yes u do need a spacer, for 2 things.

1. to reduce the input shaft from 183mm to 167mm

2. to move the shifter as far bak as possible, other wise it will be under the dash.

so u buy the ford application tko 600 which has the longest input shaft. then space it to the correct input shaft length and at the same time u are moving the shifter further back.

i haven't made the spacer yet but i am working on it now. so once its made ill get some pictures to show how i did it.

Dansedgli: if u could get some pics of your bell housing spacer it would be great!!

update:

the tko is in!

finished the install today, i took it for a drive and it is sooooo nice compared to the t5.

ratios suit the car very well to, much better than the t5 ratios.

so far i am very happy with it.
