I know its detailed somewhere in this thread but Dan could you recap the main issues why the Ford BA ECU will not work on its own.
Sniper is a new Software Tuning package for the Ford ECU. It might be an idea to find out if they may have software options to allow the ECU to be used on its own or if they could develop it.
Check out www.snipertuning.com

If you give me the issues I may email them myself

My main issue was that no-one had actually done it before from my research.

Lots of people said it could be done but no-one could point me to someone who had actually done it.

It likely could be done if you had a complete BA to play with and heaps of spare time.

The cost and time was another factor. By the time you figured out how to get the stock ECU working and bought an edit and got it retuned a few times then you may as well get an aftermarket ECU imo.

I couldnt be bothered putting any more effort into the car to do something that could be done easier with an aftermarket computer.

congrats on getting it going ! i see your point about aftermarket ecu's. now you can do whatever you like, and tune to suit. have you driven it ? or is it still being tuned ?

I'd be interested if you could make a doco of how you got everything working. Would be really interesting and useful.

Tutorial:

1.Fit motor on EA engine mounts.
2. Relocate front crossmember.
3. Cut bonnet ribbing.
4. Fit XF throttle body and bracket with EA throttle cable.
5. Get an aftermarket ECU fitted.
6. Skids?
