There's a sticky in the 6 cylinder workshop forum ("About the different ford 6s and engine retrofit information") that indicates that a modified AU sump will fit a BA engine (and bolt straight in...). Is this case? Can you post some more info on how much your K-frame was modified? Thanks - awesome car! |

To get it to fit you only have to move the cross member forward a tiny bit, like around an Inch, what dan did was cut it and then weld a piece of square bar sitting Flush in front of the original crossmember. and the sticky about engines doesn't say u can put a modified AU sump on a BA engine, its says "similar sump modifications are required as AU engines" from what i have been told u cant modify the sump easily as the Oil Pump is right at the front of the block. probably easier to just Cut the K frame and get it engineered. Nick had the EA on the dyno yet ??? |

These have a modified sump. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0151678918 I was wondering if an AU modified sump would work on a DOHC 6. Thanks anyways. |

for an EA-ED you wouldnt need to do anything but grind the ribs off the front of the sump is that right? Thats all i needed in the ED. ( AU motor)

Its nearly there.
Nick has been busy sorting out some gremlins in the new ECU. I went in a few saturdays ago when it started up and it appeared to have a head gasket issue, it was pressurising the cooling system. It definately appears to have a dud head gasket or a cracked head or something along those lines. I spoke with FTG autosalvage where I got the motor from and they jumped at the chance to help me out with another motor which is great of them. I did buy the motor nearly a year ago so they didnt have to do anything but they did and Im pretty grateful. Nick also offered to let me borrow his workshop on a weekend to swap the motors over with his help which is great as well. I declined his offer as I want to do some things when the engine is out. Redo the wiring, change the brake lines over with unbent ones, paint the engine bay etc. Nick is going to tune the dodgy engine as best as he can so I should be able to swap the motors over, plug everything in and drive it back to the workshop for a final tune. Im thinking I will put the turbo gear on before I take it back there as well. |

Ive got a tremec TR3550 and a 2.92 LSD.
Ive got a single spinner from my EB wreck which I will put a lockrite lokka in eventually. The gearbox should be right for under 300rwkw I think. Depending on how I like the manual Ill either get a TKO box or a tough auto. The TKO will bolt up to my current bellhousing. |

nice, you've thought that through I see. I suppose my concern was the driveshaft. I found out from b-series that my driveshaft for instance is made out of some hollow aluminium crap. Not sure what the EA was though.

They are all hollow arent they?
I gotta put a tailshaft loop in before I start racing it just in case. Ive never heard of a BA tailshaft breaking. Has yours broken before? If I get a TKO box Ill need a different slip yoke to suit the box and the newer flange to suit the EB2 diff so I have a new tailshaft made then. |

Nah, dont think it should be a problem. The xr6T and 8's apparently use a solid steel shaft though. But there are too many boosted e-series getting around fine to justify spending big bucks on it.
Probably designed to cope better with the BA's fat a**.

You should definatley put the turbo gear on when you get the new engine. If you ever needed a reason to do it then this head problem is it.

shafts are not solid steel, they fill the alloy ones with foam. As far as I know many new cars have alloy shafts, BA's and the like also, although maybe not every model uses the alloy.

Not yet mate.
Im taking tomorrow off of work and picking up another motor for it. Ill go visit and see what is happening. I dont know when Ill be fitting the motor. Im getting over it now. Im back at uni and working full time so a bit strapped for time. Ive got my 4wd all fixed up as well now and to be honest if I didnt have so much cash invested in the EA I would get rid of it and spend the money on the 4wd. Ive got like $5k worth of parts for the EA in my room and I dont want to lose out like I would if I sold all this gear on the 2nd hand market. Due to EA's being worth about $4.65 its not really worth selling anyway. I might as well get it going and whack it in the shed until I get motivated again. |
