Thanks Aaron. Nick rang yesterday and my clutch fluid had all leaked out.

The slave cylinder I had rebuilt at a clutch and brake place 3 months ago is leaking again.

I had to go near the workshop tonight on my way home from bendigo, so I thought I would go past in the off chance Nick was there at 7:30 on a sunday night and he was!

I took the slave cylinder out and bought it home with me. Ill get it fixed then take it back during the week.

The car wont make the drag day now but Ill head out anyways once it is tuned.

You did see them for sale.

Its one of those things, if it sells for the price I want then good. If it doesnt sell then Ill use it.

Im thinking of downgrading a bit. I cant see myself spending the money required on a big dollar engine build and a decent transmission anytime soon so that turbo setup is really just overkill.

An engine and trans setup that I need/want to run that setup to its full potential will run up a bill of around $10k and Im not that keen to spend that much money on an EA anymore. A few years ago I wouldnt have thought twice about it but now I have other priorities.

Ill still keep the EA but maybe just put a standard XR6T turbo setup on it. Im not really sure. I want to fix a lot of things on the car when I get it back to get it up to scratch like air con and all the electics and that will take some time.

The latest is that Nick has had it on and off the dyno pretty often in the last few weeks. Last time it went on the dyno it made 100ish rwkw but that isnt how it should be so he is playing with the cam timing.

this project is cool!. its strange looking at the BA engine in an e series engine bay especialy an EA. its just so retro!.
sticking the turbo on low boost for a year or so would give you time to save for a full rebuild otherwise it will just keep costing money. i would love to have a go at a project like this myself, but i have plans for the 3.9 but variable cams and 4 valves sounds like a good move.

i love the sleeper look and the EA takes first prize! -nice one ;)

Thanks mate.

I have sold my turbo gear and have found a standard turbo setup from an XR6T.

Im picking up a turbo, manifold, water and oil lines and the factory heat sheilding in the morning. :)

Im not sure if Nick has had any progress on the cams lately but the fuel pumps were playing up again during the week so I have asked him to fit a good intank pump to replace the low pressure feed and hi pressure in line pump setup.

I got new tyres for the maverick during the week. :D

The new plan is to make the EA a comfortable car with air con and 280ish rwkw for trips to the shops and longer drives and do some more mods to the Mav for the weekends.

May i ask why did you sell off your turbo gear for less than you paid, then be interested in another turbo setup?

haha. I was waiting for you to say something.

Im pretty sure I wont change my mind again after this round. :P How is yours coming along?

I picked up the new turbo, manifold, heat sheilding and water and oil lines this morning. Everything was so easy to remove, it took about 3 minutes to remove the turbo and manifold once the lines were undone. The snort and 6BOOST manifolds were way more effort to remove. The bolts are heaps easier to access with the factory stuff.
