Hi,i had intial plans to do a V8 conversion on my ED falcon sedan.I did my homework and for $2500 i could do the full conversion into my ED but this led me to tha fact it will only be a stock 5L V8.So it has made me think..
I'm definantly going the 4L/auto forced induction route.Im considering the turbo setup. Now what i want to ask is what were peoples budgets on doing the turbo conversions on there E and A series falcons??? I'm going to be doing mine on a very tight budget, will also be driven daily/do alittle bit of towing and also want it to be reliable. So am asking for some help from other who have had experiences with the turbo conversions on there cars. Also what parts list would i be looking at?I will be buying bit by bit due to my budget.I will also will be running a log style turbo manifold to keep the cost down and be running the standard ECU.I'm looking for roughly 200rwkw for now.I will be retaining my 2.5inch exhaust. Will also be having it engineered when its all up and running well. So any tips or parts people have left over forsale let me know, will be greatlly appreciated. Cheers Bryan

Mate sounds very doable if you do a lot of the work.
The boys here have a lot of good turbo experiences and advise. Keep us posted dude.

Good on you for giving it a go......
While it's generally accepted that budget and turbo shouldnt be used in the same sentence, it not impossible. As badcooky said, if you can do everything yourself, then you will be laughing. If you have some very good friends that happen to be welders, this is also good. Apart from tuning, it is pretty straight forward. I still have my old T70. It needs a new bush, but it went well, and if you're prepared to do regular maintenance, then these should give you very little trouble. If you only want 200rwkw (trust me, you WILL want more), then i suggest you keep it simple, and go with an internal gated turbo. I have a GT30(external) on my 4.0L and i get 10 psi by 2600rpm. There is no need to go for GT35, like everyone else, this will keep costs down a bit. I hope you have a back-up plan, as cost will blow out, especially considering a new GT30 is around the 2K mark..... Hope i was some help Daz

ford-parts-for-sale-f17/fs-snort-turbo-kit-t82409.html
Buy it! The manifold alone is $999 new! If it comes with everything the original kit does (http://www.snortperformance.com/ford_fa ... o_kits.htm) then you'll be laughing. Factor in another k or 2 after that and you'll have a pretty decent setup. |
