how legal is it in VIC? whats the rules? have to be engineerd?

rofl.....hahahahhaa......legal......its not legal anywhere in Australia.....its legal to have the nos parts on your car, but as soon as you connect the bottle its illegal.....
and if you're in qld, its illegal almost to the point where if the kit is still in the box in your car, you'd get some ugly looks from the enforcers!

the best way to do it is to hide EVERYTHING....i know people (who WILL remain nameless) who have nos on their cars and all the nos gear (ie solenoid and the nozzle) so is hidden in the airbox, and the nos bottle is hidden between the back seat and a sub box which is as wide as the boot.....so to the naked eye observing the engine bay theres no tell-tail signs....

i also run NOS on my Ghia but mines a 150 wet shot and have used about 4 bottles up in it, but im not using nos at the moment the cars going though a few things then back out to dyno days and drags and stuff, but i run stock heads intake manifold TB MAF everything stock exept a crankshaft pulley and belt, extractors, exhuast, powerbond harmonic balencer, and twin termo's, other then that it's all stock 165KW engine, but we found pushing a 150 shot though my engine detonated it so we kept it at 100 shot and it boosted power about 70RWKW, but i need a WOLF 3D or something stock computer isn't the best for this sort of thing.

the kit i am using is a uni 8 cyl adjustable 25-150hp shot from NX Express, costs around $1500 plus then i got purge kit(about $300 i think), bottle heater(about $500) and also got a remote bottle opener(about $500 again), plus then i got someone to install it and ended up being about $3100 installed from memory, thats including a few little entras we bought also, like guages, throttle sensor and stuff(coz my system is hooked up to my pedal when i hit 100% throttle the NOS automaticlly activates)

i get my bottle filled up for $10 a lb and i have a 10 lb bottle so if it's empty cost about $100 to refill

In VIC it is legal to have it in the car but just disconnected, i drive around all the time with my bottle in the car, even opened my boot infront of cops they can't do anything if it's not connected, but if it is i think it's about $10,000 fine

And IMO i love my nos, good fun, can';t wait to get a few problems ironed out ECU in and start using it again.

Huh?

How will fitting NOS to his 6 increase his chances of blowing a gasket?

Not having a go, just interested to know, that's all :)

The NOS causes increased temps in the combustion chamber, as well as a much bigger "bang", hence the increase in power. If detonation is kept in check, and the shot of NOS used is conservative, then there will be no problem with head gaskets. I wasnt having a shot at the six's, but they are prone to popping gaskets, and the use of NOS will increase the likelyhood of this happening, if not tuned for it.

Yeah, I can understand that, but the reason I thought the sixes suffered from head gasket problems was due to constant stop start driving, where the alloy head expands more than the iron block and files away at the head gasket. Of course, this only happens bad enough if there isn't the right amount of coolant in the first place...

yeah mine has a head gasket problem, and mines a 8!, it slowly drips water into one or to of the cyls and i have to fill my water bottle up every 2 weeks or so, but that should be fixed up soon, thats one reason im not hammering it at the moment, don't want to to get any worse.

but shouldn't happen with most 8's it's just mines had a very hard life.
