Stinger is all you need........fuel and ignition control....has outputs you can assign for the VCT, as you are using an rpm switch, this will be obsolete, as the outputs can be set at whatever you want, be-it, rpm, boost, temp, throttle position, or a combination of these. You can keep the factory ecu to run the thermos, and/or climate control etc'.......

Cheers

i was talking to joe at cms and the 2 cheaper options are a smt8 or a ems stinger piggyback..
im kind of leaning towards the smt8 as its half the price of the stinger and can be still tuned on the fly..
and all i really need is something to control fuel and timing...

So what did you decide on. Did ya get it running all good. Im interested in prices if you did get the piggyback comp to run it cause im in the same boat looking for something to run my turbo ef. Hopefully fully installed and tuned drive away for under 2500 (I hope)

yea i ended up getting the perfect power smt6 piggyback ecu..

its had a tune done on the dyno it made 175rwkw and 522nm torque with some wheel spin on the dyno..
there is still a few bugs to iron out.
its running rich still (10:1 afr) with the ba xr6t injectors and im still having issues with it not idling and coughing on cold start..
ive re-fitted the au injectors and now im just waiting for cms to give it another tune and ill see how it goes then...

You'll go good when you sort it Troy you are just experiencing the joys of a hybrid at the mo.
With an extra few revs and the STOIC right you'll crank it man.
And all will be good.

well my decision with going the smt6 piggyback ecu was a bad one..
this thing is a piece of crap..
it cant reduce the fuel table on ba 29lb injectors to run a decent afr, it cant increase the fuel enough for the au 20lb injectors. ive had so many problems with it not wanting to idle ,tfi failing, coil failing, tps failing everytime this thing is conected..
anyway im now conisdering going with the ems stinger instead..

As discussed on friday, you should keep the factory ECU for the cruise control, climate control speedo, etc'.

I would use the stinger to control fuel and ignition and the thermos, as you can control when the fans come on and go off, and have the air con have both fans come on. ISC could be a bit of playing with, and i CBF doing it on mine. You can set a target idle, given engine temp' etc'

You getting a refund on the SMT??? Not looking good for further sales...lol

thanks mate..
the thing is the ed dont have climate controle, the speedo gets its signal directly from the gearbox then the signal goes to the ecu..

the only thing im not sure about is the cruise control. i know the cruise control has its own ecu im just not sure if it gets any info from the engine ecu.??

i would have liked to have chatted about it more last night but it was difficult with the kids screaming ect..

im not sure how im going to go with getting a refund but ill see if i can do a return and partial exchange for a stinger..

Should be pretty str8 4ward to leave the factory ecu in to keep the cruise control, as you said the speedo sends signal to the ecu, in turn to the cruise control computer. I cant see it being any drama's to cut the injector and ignition wires and connect up the Stinger. You have the motor/box near the brake booster that connects to the throttle body?? Pretty sure it could be wired and running in one day. You can just splice into the sensor wires for the stinger.

Cheers

Troyman

The ECU does not have anything do to with the Cruise Control.

In the ED, there are two SSV signals from the transmission. One goes to the ECU, and the other to the cluster.

It would be a simple matter to ensure the Cruise Module gets it signal from the Cluster side. Alternatively, you could install the EF/EL cruise and wire it in however you like, to your benefit.

Cheers
BenJ

its currently getting an ems stinger ecu fitted..
i now know what people mean when they say there isnt a really cheap way to go boost..
yea it can be done but not with great results..i tried to do the fuel mods on the cheap and just didnt get any real satisfaction from it.. i tried a rising rate reg to fix the fuel issue but then had problems with pinging. then i tried a cheap piggyback ecu and got cheap results..

so now im going a with a half decent ecu and hopefully this will fix all the issues i had previously??
atleast now im not limited with a speed limiter(although it rarely sees 180kmh unless its on the dyno) and i can also raise the rev limiter a few hundred rpm aswell.
