hi guys
just purchased a centirugal supercharge kit to suit el falcon..
and im interested in opinions on how to go about the fuel side of things..

the was surposed to come with a chiptorque pre programed chip but due to the mixture of componants chiptorque dont want to supply a pre programed chip.

to give you a rundown im running an au vct engine in my ed with el ecu,bbm ect..

so i need to either get a custom tuned chip. chiptorque or unichip.
or the 2nd option is purchase a aftermarket ecu.
and the 3rd option is try cheat and just use a rising rate fuel reg and walbro pump..

what are your opinions..
note that im trying to keep the costs at a reasonable level.

will the el kit bolt up to the AU motor?

considered one of the J3 chips from TI PerformAnce (sponsor)?

i dont recommend unichip.

Well, that just sucks.

Do you mean to tell me that even though the Chiptourqe Chip is part of the purchase price they won't supply it to you due to the fact your engine is in another car.

I would just send it to them and tell them it is for an EL Fairmont Ghia. The tune supplied should be bloody close to what you need. Then you can get a J3 tuned as you need it.

I know CVE in Melbourne do tunes, is there anyone in Sydney?

Didn't some of the last EL's come out with the AU motor plus EF/EL accessories?
Just ask for EL fairmont chip.

just to clarify..
yes the chiptorqe chip is part of the kit but since they cant garantee the tune they dont want to send me something that might not do the job..
so they recommend a custom tune.
so i have been refunded the price of the chip and tune.

not quite..
the last of the el's came with a au style head and cam but retained the same bottom end and compression as ef/el.

so i guess the tuners concerns were more towards the vct cam and compression being different enough to require a custom tune??

I'm not 100% sure of the answer to this, but I believe it will for a normal AU I6. But won't for the VCT I6. Have a look at the pictures on CAPA's website, and you will see that they have made a different bracket for the AU VCT engines with the supercharger mounted at a different angle because the VCT has a different belt/pulley set up.

Personally I'd just go with the pre-tuned EL Chiptorque from them - the differences are not that great.

I will put in a plug for a rising rate reg and one of our custom tunes - if you can supply a dyno sheet with the kit fully installed - or a programmer/wbo2/display kit if you want to tweak the tune yourself or have a tuner who could do it for you.

Using a rising rate reg means that if in some situation you need to run on a stock ECU you can. It also means you dont have to upgrade injectors, and keep good idle quality with the stock injector size. I will be going down this route with my setup.

The differences between the engines would be so minimal, perhaps increased compression in the VCT donk would mean you'd want to back off the timing a bit more than usual to ensure it's a safe enough tune for boost.

Just my 2c :)

thanks for the replies..

the kit is actually a raptor kit..
due to the hybrid set up im using (auvct head, block but the rest is ef/el) so i needed the ef/el kit because the s/c bracket mounts to the head and aircon pump.

and at the moment im looking at the adjustable rising rate reg and high flow pump with the std au 20lb or maybe the 24lb bosch injectors..

the kit comes with i think 36lb injectors but without a chip aparently i cant use them..

but your opinions and ideas are more than welcome

Rising rate reg+doodads will get you most if not all the way Troy.

Fair go!! Check E bay for E6K / Stinger ecu ? They sell for around $500 should come with 2 bar MAP..
The run proper tune with 36/ 42Lb injectors..
Intank walbro 255 pump and your good for close 300 rwkw..
These higher compression engines DON'T take to bad tune & detonation which you cannot always hear!!! Cost would be close to FMU and tune anyway..
FMU & rising rate reg is same thing..

are you being sarcastic???

i think ive been given poor information..
people say run a 12 to 1 or a 10 to 1 rising rate reg???
wtf....
is it suposed to be a 1.2 to 1 or a 1 to 1??

i was told a 10 to 1 rising rate reg will gain 10 psi fuel pressure for every psi of boost..
so if what some people are saying at 10 psi boost ill have over 100 psi fuel pressure??
it dont sound right....
i went out to get this so called 10 to 1 reg and the looked at me and said what the f**k...

long story short i got a walbro gss341 pump and a 1 to 1 rising rate reg..
am i on the right track yet or what???
