Does anyone know precisly which is better, pod or panel filters? there is a lot of bull s**t companies say about them. i've heard pods are good for jap ricer cars (eg small engines) but can choke the big ones at high intake

A decent panel filter flows pretty well, will fit in the box so you won't suffer from sucking in hot air and should filter pretty well. Cheap pods flow pretty well, but don't filter and suck in hot air. If you want big power or forced induction you should get a good pod, like an apexi one or something. |

you can actually squeaze a pod in to the stock box on an el with very minor mods.

yeah but then you are still only going to get the same amount of air flowing, if not less as it won't use the whole surface area, and you are still using the same intake piping. if you want a pod get it mounted in the front guard! |

JMM has tested panels to pods and hasnt noticed basically any difference. He has tho came to the conclusion that a good K&N panel on an eb/ed will have performance gains with the lid taken off, only downside is the engines hot air.. so im thinking of testing my K&N panel with the lid off but a heat shield installed over top, ill post results.. has any1 tested this already and found any difference?

i plumbed up a super s**t auto pod to my el and noticed a big power loss at >4000rpm. serves me right for waisting money on cheap s**t

pod verse panel.... interseting all have goods and bads. i tihnk it depends on the driver....to what he or she wants ..
