its like the "Fluttering" noise you hear as the person gets off the gas quick in a turbo car instead of the "PPHHHHSSSSHHH" noise you normally hear... -if that makes sence... is pretty gay though... cant be good for the turbo and sounds s**t.. hear it lots on ricer's and seems to be popular in melbourne... -go figure..

Don't you only get the turbo flutter if you don't have a blow off valve tho :? ?

That is correct. Only get a dose if you have no blow off valve or maybe a very small one.

This may sound stoopid, but I've been in the old mans Turbs and it made a fluttering sound after I stomped on it and came off the gas.

So dose is an alternative to R.I.C.E ?

Its a 2way hypocracy. Dosers think that Blowoff Valves are ricer and the Blow off crew think that Dose pipes are rice. Each to their own I suppose but from and engineering stand point Dose is the slightly bigger ricer mod of the two.

how is dose more rice? my xr6t dosed it tits off with nothing more then a k &n panel filter and generic flash tune, running stock blow off valve, those that spend $400+ on a blow off valve that goes Pshhhhh, when it could be plumbed back and have the same result are much more rice. Then theres the vl boys that have tuned pipes that make the dose louder, which i suppose is heaps ricey. But in general unless you go out of your way to make the car dose harder then bovs are heaps ricier.

The traditional method to get a jap car to dose on a budget was to blockoff the blow off valve and remove the air filter. So by trying to stall the compressor (bad if you like to circuit race a manual) you were hurting response whilst attracting unwanted attention.

And alloy piping tends to make turbo cars dose because the alloy has a high resonant frequency and is stiff so the pressure waves just bounce around untill they go back out through the air filter.

the stock bov does make a fluttering sound, but its no where near as loud as a 'dose' if u block off the bov...

Maybe I'm stoopid (which could very well be the case) but I still don't understand the concept of "dose".

Is it an object or a description (like how R.I.C.E. = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancement) ?

dose is just a term given to turb flutter, its when you close your throttle body the air is forced back through the turbo and is chopped up by the spinning blades, hence the tu tu tu tu tu tu sound. With the stock xr6ts it isnt the bov you can hear when you back off its the turbo flutter.
