Got some issues with PCV on a blown 6 can some of you offer some solutions on this.
Currently got the vent point and PCV point into a catch can then a third point to the vacuum source infrint of the blower. The hose size to the vacuum source is the same as those going to Rocker cover vent point at the rear of the cover and to the PCV Valve. Been told to increase the size of the vac source point hose to 5/8 of inch or 19 MM ID. Can someone clear a little issue, Are the dipsticks in the EL I6 the same size as the EA to ED dipsticks ?

I drill out rear vent on rocker cover...
Then run this hose direct to air cleaner cover, under element ... The PCV I fit a one way valve from Nissan brake line. Via oil separator.. Keep in mind when under boost the PCV should be closed, or the crankcase will be boosted... So the rear hose which normally goes to throttle body, must be re directed to air cleaner cover Or inlet pre turbo but its best to fit another oil separator.. Dip stick??? Give it an oil change and fill with correct amount.. Then check with new dip stick...

the PCV if working properly will close if it sees positive manifold pressure.
so it should be left as it was fitted by ford. but play it safe a use the early type one it has a metal body, the late plastic ones tend to break and drop the internals of the valve into the engine. the breather at the rear needs to be plumbed pre turbo/Scharger. |
