yeh for some reason the seal on the turbine side as gone, and its pissing out oil. also did a comp test and all cyl's were around 175-185psi but number 4 wich was 120psi then i did a wet test on number 4 and it went to 135psi. valve seat???

ok, on a std ea-ed, you will find a small (3/8) hose under the inlet manifold, which is a heater bypass hose, it joins the two steel heater pipes together, all ive done is join one of the steel pipe outlets to one side of the turbo, and the other pipe to the other side... your turbo now becomes the heater bypass and you will have flow through the core

i want to have a look at your crankcase breather setup fritzz, the only time a turbo oil seal (especially on a new turbo) should leak is if there is pressure buildup against the turbo drain... becuase during normal operation, there isnt any oil pressure against the seal

unfortunately, it sounds like you have killed your engine... you shouldnt have any more than 20psi maximum variance between cylinders... a wet test simply seals the rings with oil, if you get an improvement from a wet test, then you have ring/bore damage... and, i'd possibly link that to excessive blowby causing crankcase pressure which has caused turbo seal trouble??????????

hope im wrong, to prove otherwise, you need to pump the cylinder up with compressed air and have a listen at the tailpipe and throttlebody to see if you can hear any valve leakage, you will most likely hear a lot of air leaking into the sump, pump up a few cylinders and compare the amount of blowby you can hear

yeh i did my water lines exactly the same a ebs_4l.

the engine still runs fine so thats all i care about, until the new 1's built.

the funny thing is it only blows blue smoke when cold or driving slow and idling allot. any other time its fine. its not the engine ether because the spark plugs are nice and dry and clean ports in turbo manifold are also clean.

when i removed the turbo, then removed the turbine housing of the turbo there was lots of oil in that hollow cover between the turbine wheel and turbo core.

i will admit that the crack case breather setup was crap. it only had one 1/2" line with both rocker cover outlets tee'd into it. but since the turbo has been of i am now constructing it using two 1/2 lines to catch can. witch i know is still not enough but for this engine it will do.

Bet you got a good lock on the garage  j/k

I'll have to keep an eye out for that car redfin, looks like a monster!
You had it down the strip?

Soon Bro, soon. Valve springs need evicting, found some better tenants.. LOL Once they're in and it's tuned back up, we're off to see what she'll do.
Did a few runs about 4 months ago, at Heathcote. PB was 12.606 @114mph. Half a tank of gogo lotion, spare and tools in boot, street tyres and trim. Still haven't done the valve springs, but maybe soon.

my breather setup consists of two -10 hoses from the rocker cover to a custom catch can.. the i.d of -10 hose is 1/2in so you should be fine with two hoses like you said

i said, the I.D of -10 hose is 1/2in.. which it basically is

i know -10 is meant to be 5/8, but the i.d is actually .56", which means the i.d of -10 hose is actually closer to 1/2 than it is to 5/8....

yea, do you know how -10 relates to the size 5/8?? since hoses come in 1/16 increments, -10 means 10/16, if you shrink that down by dividing both by two you get 5/8......

i am specifically talking about the speedflow hose here, which is .56id. id say most other -10 5/8 hoses WOULD be .625 or 5/8 as the name suggests

This is what i've just finished doing on my holidays. Its a stock 4L with backyard exhaust manifold, KKK (BorgWarner) K27 turbo, ebay external wastegate with screamer pipe, turbotech boost controller and 3" dump/front pipe to twin 2.25" exhaust. Its running 4psi at the moment until i get an intercooler or water injection sorted. i kinda went nuts with the matt black too :P

Some form of intercooling will be good, you will probably find it will spool faster and stronger with cooling (I know that doesnt make sense from an intake length point of veiw.)

Be wary of the heat on your throttle cable, they can get too much heat and get stuck (hopefully not at full throttle).

I can see you have vented the rocker to atmosphere, that is illegal, but I found I acheived better crankcase pressure reduction with a plumbed back catchcan. When you plum to intake you get a light vacuum on the line.

Good luck with it.
