my turbo is mounted normaly with manifold flange pointing up, but becuase im using a r33 turbo the inlet for the oil feed line is not on the top of the turbo. its more on the side of the turbo and so is the drain line. will the oil still be pumping though fine?

Rotate the housings so it is vertical.

but as it is now will it pump through and out? and how hard is it to rotate the houseing?

Its easy.
Just loosen the bolts on the back of the housings and turn them. Ive read that an angle of 30 degrees from vertical is okay. Anything more is asking for trouble. |

Keep it as close to vertical as possible with in 5*...
Or you'll have seal issues...

yer im trying to move the housing now, but dam its hard to move and i don't want to use a hammer because i don't want to damage the turbo. what can i do to make this easier?

Spay with WD40 or similar..
Don't undo bolts too much, chances are it would be the turbine housing thats giving you grief... A sharp hit with brass hammer will do the trick on flange.... If you undo bolts too much you run the risk of damaging the compressor or turbine wheels.. The return hose should be as big as possible and for the first 150mm as vertical as possible so there's no chance of oil backing up inside...

dont think the nissan turbo will rotate, im pretty sure they have a little pin in them from it rotating....like the IhI subaru turbos....

Internally wastegated turbo's require that the compressor cover and exhaust cover remain aligned because the actuator for the wastegate bolts to the inlet and connects to the exhaust but you should still be able to rotate the core. I've done it on a few turbo's now and i've had tight/sticky inlets and exhaust so like was said before, try WD40 or similar or what i did was clamp the exhaust flange in a vice and stick a screwdriver in the inlet cover to get some leverage. Obviously don't go nuts with this method if it's REALLY tight because the inlet is only alloy.

Its often due to bolts hitting water cooling flanges...
