does capa do the kit with a PD XB blower i have a manual and dont wanna put any more boost out of it but i will be giving it a bit of a hard time, do you know the cost of the XB model

Not on their website but I imagine they'd be able to get them. I think they actually build the powerdynes on site now. IMO i wouldnt go straight for a PD XB, might as well go vortech. Im only thinking about a PD XB as i have the brackets etc. for it already. Heck the vortech blower is actually cheaper than a belt-drivern PD... its just the extra bits you need for the vortech which pushes up the kit price.

Yeah you may as well just go for the Vortech as the XB will work out just as expensive and it is still not as good IMO.

The Vortech kit comes with oil lines, extra bypass valve, T-rex fuel pump, billet aluminium pulley system and larger fuel injectors.

powerdyne definatly looks value for money, but after some of the things said here, it seems they arent too great? then you spot the price jump to the vortech kit, wowzers
guess its a matter of what fits yor needs and budget

You can always make up a cheaper Vortech kit that runs lower boost like the Powerdyne and save a bit of money, then when it comes time to up the boost get the extra bits. If you geared the Vortech to run 6-8psi then you could do without the injectors, extra bypass valve and T-rex fuel pump. This would probably bring the price down $800-$1000.

They supply a chip with the kit, you can also opt for a unichip which is slightly better due to the custom tune but a fair bit more expensive. If you plan on higher boost etc later than you should invest in an aftermarket computer and decent injectors but that all comes down to budget.

Stock ECU wont deal with it too well at all. The Chiptorque chips or Unichips can handle up to 6spi perfectly and 7 or 8psi at a maximum. After that the EEC V is out of its range by a fair bit and some other solution needs to be used or oyu have to accept the compromises. |

so if the PD is 8 - 9 psi what is the Vortec kit running and if the uni can only handle up to 9 psi its not worth goin the vortec unless you run a new computer thats what ive come down to

There are a couple of ways to get the stock EEC to cope even without a chip (although a chip does help specially on the fuel side). The problem with the I6 EEC is that it only reads load values from 0-100% so there is no compensation for boost. The V8 is better reading load up to 200% (around 15psi of boost) which allows easy manipulation of the fuel and timing maps which pretty much any chip tuner can do easily. Because the I6 EEC does not read load over 100% it cannot pull out timing gradually under boost, but if you installed a boost retard system like the ones available from MSD or Accel you could easily run more boost, probably 10-14psi without too much drama.

The vortech can run 10-12psi in which case a new computer it the optimum solution however getting a Chipotorque or unichip and haveing it custom tuned will still run it. It will simply be a compromised setup. Anything over 10psi on a stock engine will not be healthy for the engine anyhow. |

All they do is pull all the timing out as soon as it goes on boost (100% load) instead of the ideal way of pulling out timing gradually as boost rises. This is ok but won't give you full power under low boost conditions. |

cool that makes a bit of sense now
we are pulling the motor down any way, forged pistons ring job copper head gasket and bearings and hp oild pump that should do it for 12 psi no worries. but i think i will just go the PD i doubt i will f**k it they only f**k up when you try boost them. and a i6 wont spin that supercharger more than 39,000 rpm or wat eva they dont rev enough to get it there. thanks for the help. just think i will either learn the hard way and it will f**k up or i will be happy with it and not try chase more power and it will be fine
