I would like to bolt the Raptor SC to my EB XR6.. The system being EF onwards compatible is certainly a snag. What do I need to rectify this problem.
My quick assumption is to use an EL Manifold and gut the dual runner system. will there be any problems using this method. (I think BAXR6T have the system removed) --also is it worthwile keeping the dual system with the sc for more power and finding an ecu to switch. Also will there be any mounting issues for the supercharger system because of engine differences.... Any advice would be appreciated *note I have spoken to Raptor however I need to be sure before I buy

Changing over to the later manifold is easy, and I assume you would need to change the front dress on the engine to match the EF/EL. Again, this is a relatively straight forward swap, including a thermo fan conversion. A few hundred bucks and a few hours later you have an EF 4L as far as the supercharger kit is concerned.

Yeah I spoke to Tim, he thought it would work out sweet. I was very impressed with how he explained things and infact, the raptor product in general... Great (and honest) power increases and certainly affordable. I will be sure to PM you. I guess anybody else that has had a Raptor supercharger feel free to post. It would be nice to have as much feedback as possible.
Anything really: Power, sound, fitment, any problems, mods, exhaust, cam setups...etc etc Thankyou

Have got cams in now and it needs re tunning to suit but that vid is with no cams and is the first start up with the kit on All I can say mate is Just Do It. You wont regret it that is for sure, I should have done it earlier myself. |

Yep we had the discussion, the other sticking point could be the aircon, you would need to run the same compressor and mounting as EF - EL, now to be honest I am not sure if it will cross over or not, should be plenty knowledgeable people around to answer this little question for you ......

I checked with a tuner about keeping the butterflies in the broadband manifold, he advised me to do this as it will help with low down because superchargers also have a spooling time.
Now I am searching for a good ECU to switch the butterflies and properly tune instead of using the flash tune with the kit.

Mate there's no spooling time.
From idle on the vacuum and under load you are making boost. Not a lot i make about a pound and a half as soon as the vacuum cuts in. What he probably meant is that more boost with more revs. I can be cruising at any speed at light load/no load and the bypass valve can be opened.

I am looking into this now in another thread asking about thermofan/serpentine conversion. I will pm you maybe you could email me some pictures of how the supercharger mounts. Apparently EL Airconditioner units don't use a bracket but mount directly to the block using 3 spacers (see thread: thermofan conversion.)

I rigged the bbm to open under boost on my turbo eb. I dont run any of the stock el setup, i just run the vacuum line that runs from the diaphragm that opens the bbm, straight to the manifold so it gets boost when boost kicks in.
Now what i did was set up a spring that holds the butterflies closed, now this spring is adjustable so i get the right tension. I set it up with a low pressure regulator on an air compressor. By adjusting the spring tension i got the bbm to switch over at exactly 7psi (where i wanted it) so under normal running the bbm is closed and makes full effectiveness of the torque of the turbo and is also closed under vacuum. But when im into it and she hits 7psi BANG! bbm opens and f**k the switch over + the big boost is awesome (well ok not that big 10psi).

Haha, that sounds like a fun ride
That sounds like a good setup but isn't timing supposed to adjust when the butterflies open or is that not as relevant in boosted applications? What do you use for an ECU?

Standard ecu (ed xr6). i have made it a goal to see how far and how much power i can make on the standard ecu
As i said i didn't worry about the computer controlling it, im pretty sure in standard form they don't open till 3800rpm anyway. I prefer to have it setup to open on boost, because under 7psi im not that into it and obviously want torque, but after 7psi i want h/p and revs so need a short intake tract, so she switches over. I hope this all makes sense. f**k i should of done a build thread

What about fuel? I was under the impression bigger injectors/fuel pump are required for boosted falcons.

Yeah the injectors out of a magna 4cly (the blue tops) flow more, 24lbs over the falcons 18lbs (e-series) and fit straight in. And get a raising rate regulator for fuel pressure under boost.
Im running 42 lb injectors and am on E85
