My turbo has been leaking oil for the last week so i have pulled it off to get the seals replaced and bearings checked. It is a t66, t04 style garret with 1.32 rear housing and .70ar compressor not to sure on wheel sizes but has 4 inch mouth and 4 inch v band exhaust. my question is that it is not the quickes turbo to spool up but is fine once on boost. If i change the rear housing to a 0.96ar will i see a big differance in spool up and will i be limiting my top end power output. making 285kw at wheels atm.

On a 4.0 you won't loose power.. Well ?? Your not after 700+ h.p so you'll be fine...
It will spool much quicker going by when we fitted a .84 to a T04Z...[66mm]
May have to check tune as torque will come on lower in rpm also...
If there is oil in turbo ?? Always check the oil return pipes...

i went from a 1.14 to a .96 rear housing on the to4 and i notice a fair amount of difference, i think going from a 1.32 to a .96 or lower, the difference will be huge...

Ok took turbo to the turbo place today. my turbo has garret front and rear housings p trim turbine and 66mm stepped t trim compressor. The problem is that the turbo has end play and a slight amount of side play (Ball bearing unit). turbo guy says that he might be able to machine the inner spacer so the end play will be reduced and with some new seals will be as good as new. He also said that the center bearing t3 style that i had is not a garret unit and is hard to come by and cant buy new so could be a problem if it cant be fixed. Also about the housing change .96 or 1.1 rear housings with a 4 inch v band are hard to come buy and he said he would have to modify a standerd 3 inch unit to fit. thoughts suggestions cheers
