Yeah Gday. need some advice.

Put on raptor s/c and after a month or two it blew out the entire acl composite gasket. Now have just put on a MLS gasket (and while were at it, swap over to a mock streetfighter head and jmm valve springs and advanced timing gear two degrees) and she's running real hot and blowing oil vapours through the rocker cover like you wouldnt believe. (see this video http://rdiigen.ueuo.com/Video000.wmv )

Now Tim from raptor said that these engines can have up to 11.0 compression and still be fine. Even though I have higher compression pistons, i still think im well under 10.0. And all i've spoken to said i blew head gasket cause ACL composite gaskets are crap and MLS are unburstable. So I think im safe now with MLS.

She normally runs at water temp 80C-90, but now with new head and all its running 90C-100. On the dial its between R & M ( Hot | nor^mal | Cold ) Its also heating up the engine bay more than it used to and heatsoaking everything. (normally wouldnt). Are the harder valve springs causing this heat increase through more friction?

I'm now getting some serious oil vapours / back pressure?? like a bloody train puffing out (and this is only at idle)

The heating and the vapours are causing problems, running a bit rough at idle now, yesterday wouldnt start until it had cooled down a bit (normally never have starting problems)

What can i do? Will retarding cam gear back to zero or further retarding help relieve some pressure in the chamber and reduce vapours?

specs of car - raptor s/c with generic cve perf chip (not real time tuned). Harder valve springs with tighe 826 cam advanced two degrees. Acl race pistons (quoted to give 9.6 compression) and acl rings and bearings. Jmm race headers and full exhaust 2.5inch.

specs of cam - http://www.tighecams.com.au/profiles2/fordeaef.htm 826 profile.

I am now seriously at wits end with this car and have run out of money to take it to Elite archerfield to get it fixed or tuned properly.

pls help Thanks. (my first post in forced induction as well. tis good to be here, hopefully i can stay here and not end up selling car in parts)

also note, compression a bit more now because jmm heads are shaved down as well. So im thinking main problem is blow-by. and if it is, will a tune, cam retard or even a lower psi supercharger wheel help me or am I stuffed?

that looks like serious compression blow by...
i would suggest a compression test...

blow by is blow by, the only way to fix it is another re build..
im been running a raptor on a std au engine for about 18 months with 12psi and no engine problems...

has it been pinging alot?? the tune can contribute to the life span of a boosted engine..

just another thought, have you bypassed the rear breather from the rocker cover to the throttle body??

I had the rear breather connected to its spot on the charger intake, but now I just have a Air filter sitting on the breather. Either way its the same.

naah its blowing no smoke at all. IM not sure if its pinging, in my present state of mind, I would say it may be a bit, but that also may be paranoia. Im pretty sure its too much blow by too, cause its pushing oil out front oil seal, oil dipstick (if i jump on gas heavy, it pops the dipstick up a bit).

I obviously cant afford another rebuild. What can I do to reduce the pressure?

to reduce some of the blow by pressure remove the super charger this will help at under load and at higher rpm...
but i hate to say it sound like the engine is almost dead....
there is no other way to stop the blow by....

I think I remember someone else having this problem and it turned out to be cam timing.

Is your PCV still working?

yeah it does, i tried the pcv or just air filter and no change. I put the air filters on the breathers to reduce oil going into the chamber to prevent pinging.

Just by looking at the video you'll be lucky to get 1/2 a boost at idle to cause that much blow-by.

Try purging the radiator. it's likely you have centralise hotspots somewhere around the cylinders. it'll be harder to find as well because of a few other factors in the scenario. bypass the blower from the T/B and see what happens at idle.

i took cap off when I first got car back and went for a drive to purge it but still same.

I dont understand what you mean bypass blower. I thought at idle with throttle closed, the bov is open and just recirc's air. So disconnecting blower/tb tube wont change ??

Is it compressd cylender gases goin through the rings into the sump and therfore running up out the oil cap and dipstik?

yes!

kind of on topic, after i've driven my car for a bit (more than 30 mins) and when i stop and take the oil cap off there is smoke comeing out. this means the motor needs an oil change, or am i up for a new motor. it also blows smoke when you boot it, but not that much.
