With something like the Stage 2 turbo kit from Snort Performance ( http://www.snortperformance.com/ford_fa ... o_kits.htm ) - can the wastegate be set to stop the turbo from boosting beyond 9psi?

The stage 2 turbo only has a 7.5 psi wastegate.
Mine is running 5 psi at the manifold due to pressure drop across the cooler. with a boost controller its running 9-10. |

im pretty sure they come adjusted to 9psi..

I have a stage 2 snort kit with internal wastgate and it was pre set to 9psi when I received it..

get a boost tee set it to 9psi and away ya go.or the stage 3 snort kit has a 9psi spring.iv got my stage 3 snort kit running 11psi atm with a boost tee,but i have the wolf boost cut set at 13psi just incase.but never had a boost spike yet

the internally gated turbos from snort have 6psi springs in them and the externally gated turbos from snort come with 9 psi springs which means it will not boost over 9 psi because the springs would compress and allow exhaust gases to escape out the turbo. if you want to run more boost you get a boost controller and basically restrict the vacuum line going to the waste gate which will hold it off longer

Also depends were wastegate source is at, if its tapped into the compressor cover the boost in the inlet manifold will be less due to pressure drop etc.
The boost line should not be a vacuum fitting from the inlet as this can deform the wastegate's diaphragm causing premature wastegate failure. I installed a turbosmart bleed valve so i could adjust boost without changing the wastegate spring, its quicker this way than changing springs. boost controllers ftw |
