hey all
will the following be ok for a mild (5/6psi) supercharger setup? (on a 6cyl) -tickford head -minor porting & polishing -new valves/seats/guides -AU head gasket -std (rebuilt) bottom end -Rspec4 cam -42# injectors -walbro 255 fuel pump -300kPa fuel reg -unichip if anyone has any bright ideas about what to improve on, i'm all ears. head work hasn't been done yet, so that is an area which has the most scope for improving anything. and yes, i have read through a lot of info regarding setups, i can't see any of this being a problem (besides perhaps the cam?) but just wanting to run it past a few people who know! cheers

If compression is still standard, makes life much easier.
Remember that improving flow throughout the system removes restriction and = lower boost for a given supercharger flow. What i mean there is... if its 6psi on a std donk... might see a drop with ported heads etc. Not a bad thing, as it'll essentially be more efficient... but just something to be aware of. Beauty of forced induction... can keep revs low, which means less stress on valvetrain... Not sure about cam?? How radical is it?? You prob dont want something that takes too much away from the bottom end.

You have addressed the two main areas people overlook (fuel and tune).
My suggestions are that the bottom end gets a balance while being rebuilt and unless you have the unichip already I would get something else instead. There are much better products available these days.

pretty solid cam - nice & lumpy - don't have full details
so best leaving head 'untouched' as such?

bottom-end is pretty much set for now (may look to rebuild for a higher boost setup later)
already have the unichip, again when $$$ permits down the line will look towards the like of an EMS8860 etc

I wouldn't have thought it would've been any problem whatsoever on a stock motor. But if you're going to get all the listed work done to it, it can really only benefit the setup. As Martin said, more efficiency.

definately not, some of the nicest gains will come from head work and camshaft selection. get the chambers cc'd, and have the valves de-shrouded, have the porting done, depending on your budget, some places will even remove the valve guides and machine the end down to a tapered point which works well.. i dont profess to be a camshaft designer, so what you need to do is speak to someone like surecam about your requirements, from my experience, they are down the line, no bullsh:t blokes who know cam designs very well. and are well experienced with ford OHC motors. They truly will design and grind a CUSTOM cam for you in a billet for $400-450. Crow will offer you something off the shelf. with the inlet pressure now above atmospheric, and cam lift going over .500" you will benefit by replacing the factory valve springs, the best option here, since you have an AU head (note. thin valve stems) is to get hold of the special retainers from JMM that allow the thin valves to use a normal sized spring retainer (au's have tapered valve springs, and cant get aftermarket ones to fit) a nice free flowing set of headers and nice 2.5 or 3in system will be on the shopping list too

for $3250 i'm getting:
-powerdyne charger -5psi pulley -belt -CAPA bracket & all associated bolts -Bosch BOV -stainless pipework -42# injectors -walbro 255 fuel pump -autometer boost gauge all with under 500kms so just want to get it all bolted on!

aaaahhhhhh... so it was you that picked it up. I did notice it went fairly quickly.
When it comes time to bolt it all on, let us know and we can come and inspect/help.

Get sniped did ya Kilma? Sounds like a good little combo there, definatly entry level by the sounds of it but big claps for getting into the forced induction way of thinking.
