Can anybody tell me what the advantages are to running a twin turbo over a single turbo set up. Do they spool up quicker or is it just for the sake of having two turbos (have to admit two looks soooooo much better than one).

With two turbo's if you really do your research and tune the system. You normally have one smaller turbo, and one larger turbo. That way, the smaller turbo spools up earlier, so you get power early on so you dont have much lag. Then the larger one kicks in, and gives you your big grunt.
Much more expensive, as you have a more complicated manifold, and another turbo... A single turbo setup, will give you a bit of lag if you choose a big turbo running high psi. Just my thoughts, twins do look incredible tho!

I get your point on the bigger smaller set up (sequential turbo charging I think its called) but there is that guy snort performance selling twin turbo set up for falcon. And both turbos are identical and dont feed into each other as I know sequential systems do.

Well there is lots of equal size twin turbo setups, most factory setups are done to reduce lag, over one big single, but a well setup single on a large capacity engine won't have much lag anyway. Sequential (smaller then larger) turbo setups have even less lag but more prone to problems.
Big single reduces pipe work to intercooler etc and would be far cheaper than having to purchase two new turbos, waste gates and piping. A lot of twin turbo installs have used second hand jap car turbos and it is hard to find a second hand single turbo bigger enough to supply air to a large capacity engine. Have a look at new quality turbo prices VS second hand Jap turbos (most have internal waste gates), you can nearly do a twin (s/h) turbo install on a V8 (DIY) cheaper than just purchasing a large enough single turbo and external waste gate.

I was originally going to use two mitsubishi turbos simlilar to the zoom ute but eneded up selling them and buying a big single XTR. Basically my decision came down to the fact that these were old tech turbos and would require a rebuild at some stage wich would add up to the cost of a new turbo anyway... and one turbo is a zillion times easier to fit into the eng bay thatn two of the buggers.
But yeah twins look nice, TRUST TDO6 25G's on and RB26 are my favs |

You have to remember with single tuirbo on a motor this size is going to get a s**t load of exhaust velocity very quick so there would be almost no difference..Keep exhaust manifolds rather small and don't think about flow like a n/a engine..Velocity or exhaust speed under presure is what you want.A well designed log style is just as good as turbo headers for street use.. Unless you are into F1 ?
Single turbo can fit where battery was, but twins is a different story, very little room around the air conditioning compressor.. Edit?? Thats for V8..With 6 its just more fiddling with manifolding and pipe work...The advantage of twins is you can use ywo small Jap turbo's off an SR20 or similar....I believe on the KISS principle ..Keep it simple stupid....

I would say definately a single turbo for a ford 4litre.
Have you been for a spin in a turbocharged one? Im happy to take you for a run in mine. In small jap cars twin might be worth considering.
