cheers |

you have to buy the article or a subscription to autospeed to view it but go to www.autospeed.com and search for 'turbo'd' and it will come up. I sold my RX7 turbo because its not suited to the i6 in terms of efficiency even for low boost. Am in the market for a new turbo and went to check out an RB25DET turbo today which i will probably get, I will be following the "turbo'd for torque" philosophy with my setup.

my mate put a toyota ct20 on his ed, had full boost by 2000rpm. fully tuned mith link ecu and stage 3 cam it made 250rwhp @ 14psi. but the line on the gragh fell down realy erly, around 4000rpm. and because of the restriction it wouldnt rev past 5500rpm. and he melted 2 manifolds.

Small turbo's would be maasive heaters.. The compressor would be way out of its efficiancy range...
Buy a new master power T70 size turbo ...But make sure it's a master power.. NOT the supper T70 Chinese Junk sold on E bay... Should sell for under $1k as they are $450 - $500 or so U.S....

i've got a turbo from a VG20DET sitting here that i'm going to try an stick on my 4L EB. i've compared it with a VG30DET turbo and mine is only 2mm smaller on the exhaust wheel and compressor outlet, everything else is identical and my mate has that VG30DET turbo running on his RB30E (as of 11pm last night ). It starts comming on fairly strong at about 2500rpm and is on full by about 3000rpm.
My warped logic tells me that a VG20 turbo should run on my engine and come on quickly (response is what i want) but the guy @ the turbo joint reckons the wastegate isn't big enuf so i'll get overboosting happen at higher revs so i've just gotta get an external wastegate to work in conjunction with the internal.

Guys your wasting your time and money with small turbos. Forget spool, forget power, forget everything, they are just too small to pass the 4lt motor exhaust gasses.
Buy a used T4 or similar is your tight. You need a big turbo, its a big motor yeah... if smaller turbos worked then ford would have used a smaller one on the XR6, and these guys are massive tightasses. |

This is why i gave up on my small turbo, and i had an RB25DET turbo which is good for a lot more power than the VG20. |

I run TWO VG30's on my V8 and they where too small...Untill I spent $2400 on high flowing them...You need atleast a 61mm turbine wheel 70+ trim ... Check turbo flow maps then work out what your engine flows...
