hey all
have recieved a few emails from geoff @ snort performance in regards to their stage 2 kit - so i'll post up what he's given me - would appreciate a few comments! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- gday again Fraser, we ensure these systems can be fitted without replacement ecu or modifying your engine internals send me your number and I will call you to discuss the process of what's involved in full detail we provide these kits 90% pre assembled so you don't need a science degree to fit them you will however need to supply intercooler pipes and connect your exhaust to the dump pipe,,, we suggest your local exhaust shop for neat fitment as most have plenty of experience with installing front mount intercoolers here is a list of components 1 x custom s/steel log style turbo manifold 1 x 40mm external racegate 1 x garrett to4s turbocharger ( rated over 400hp ) 1 x super billet b.o.v 1 x boost reference fuel regulator ( vortec f.m.u 1 x front mount intercooler ( core size 600x300x76 ) 3 inch s/steel dump pipe with o2 sensor bung 1 1/2 inch s/steel screamer pipe ( from wastegate ) Teflon braided oil feed lines, vclamps, oil sender t Teflon oil drain lines gaskets and fittings 3 inch pod filter price $ 2999.00+ 125.oo shipping ---------------------------------------------------------------- gday Fraser, thankyou for your email our stage 2 systems can be fitted to standard engine without replacing ecu, injectors , fuel pump!!!!! note!!!!!!! boost must be kept below 9psi and you install the vortec f.m.u and intercooler ( supplied ) this will support 180rwkw without your unichip!!! although the unichip will allow you to reach much higher power levels as this will give control over timing and more adjustment for fuel delivery at this point it would be suggested to also install high volume fuel pump these systems will support 450hp on purpose built engine fitted with ecu, injectors, ect --------------------------------------------------------------------- these seem slightly upgraded as opposed to the ones they had on their website as stage 2 - mostly in regards to the intercooler is whats been said reasonable?

Yes!
Only thing i'd add is that good idea to go the bigger fuel pump even with the rising rate regulator (aka vortech fmu).

@9psi with the vortech F.M.U you'd prob be ok with the stockers but larger would be ideal... but then you're into "playing with ECU" territory.
$$$ for pipework is anyones guess.

ah yes true! i'd only be looking for a mild kit as of yet anyways - not looking for anything crazy by any stretch of the imagination, so the less messing with the ECU the better - although the unichip may give me something better than the stock to play around with

good stuff uglybob! I'm heading after that kit too as soon as I get some funding.
4.9 EF Futura, can a stock ECU handle a bigger fuel pump? I'm going to go Wolf3D eventually, but may take a while to get some more money for it.

All a bigger fuel pump does is pump more fuel up to the engine and usually capable of supplying at a higher pressure. This is why they important when using FMUs. The FMU ramps up the pressure in the fuel rail, as you would be aware, its harder for a pump to supply the same amount of fuel at a higher pressure - it has to work a lot harder - therefore one upgrades the pump. No need for big pump on a stock engine - all you'll be doing is sending more fuel to engine which will be sent back to the tank via the return line.

Ah ok, I'm gonna be purchasing a Snort 2 kit as well so I just wanted to make sure my ECU could handle it.
Any ideas on fuel consumption after turbo?

i've got one i can get hands on quite cheap, which needs a little bit of plastic welding to get it back to scratch - so less $$$ than a venom one!

You'd prob need to ask Geoff about that. There's a group buy happenening at: http://www.fordmods.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=21353&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20
They are DIRT cheap and of the highest quality (from Geoff @ Snort Performance ) so you might want to jump in if you still can![/quote]
