Just leave it on and see what happens... should be fine as the ED manifold is good big power and Dans AU is getting over 300 on the stock AU manifolds

cool cool.
Im all wet and horny for this kit now, just working out some mulah.

I found ACL make a 1.5mm copper gasket, shoud bring back to 8.7-8.6:1 which should be good for a streeter with 10 psi.

The XF snort manifolds are the only ones that appear to be some form of tuned length design. All the rest are log manifolds (in the true sense of the word).

nah, i don't think all the pics are up.
the stage 4 (i think) for the eseries has a tuned length style stainless manifold.
its been used on EASPRINT's car as well as a few other cars on this forum :)

I think all the manifolds are tuned length now, apart from the stage one and two ones. The website is in development so my guess is they haven’t got all the pictures up yet. I saw a EA-AU snort tuned length manifold about 3 months ago, so they definably do exist... :D

Not true dude. Heres some pics of my snort kit for the ED. I didnt run a tape measure over each pipe but i would say thats as close to tuned length as youd get.

Off topic, but has ANYONE actually got a handle on tuned length turbo manifold design? I'm not speaking from experience, but aren't gains when stepping from a well made log-style to a tuned length about 2/10ths of f**k all?

2/10ths of f**k all is better than nothing. And of course there's the wank factor of saying you've got a tuned length turbo manifold.

As long as it's no worse, who cares.

it all depends on the tune of your motor as to wether these tuned manifolds will benefit.
the main thing to look at is the heads ability to flow large amounts of air and in turbo situations its the turbo's exhaust housing and manifold that can cause some major restrictions, though they are restrictions, they will still allow the head to breath alot of air, as with a log manifold.
With a manifold such as the tuned one above, it will always flow more air than a log one due to the length of the runners and the smooth flow they allow. the tight bends of the log manifold will slow down the air and cause a restriction, but as its being proven on many motors, this restriction will still allow the motor to produce high power, so the log is fine for high 200s.

A good example of this is my mates SR20, its in a very healthy state of tune with some big $$ spent on it and a very large ( for a 2lt motor ) turbo. This over sized turbo mounted on the nissan cast manifold (semi log style from factory ) tended to lag too much for easy road driving, but once he put a Trust tuned lenght manifold on it spooled alot lower and hit boost much harder. Most poeple said the turbo was to big, but with this manifold it became alot more drivable.
This is of cause a different world compared with the lazy 4lt but it does go to show that a good tuned length manifold is worth using, but its most obviouse benifits will only become apparent on high boost, high air flow applications where flow through the head is critical

Im not exactly sure about this but dont decompression plates encourage detonation on boost? I know it would be a lot safer than running higher compresion but if you have the option it may be an idea to decompress the engine by enlargening the combustion chamber. More expensive but it may be worth it in the long run. What do other people think? Am i totally wrong or what?

I remember reading in an old Autospeed article that most 'tuned length' turbo manifolds aren't actually 'tuned'. Sure they flow better because of smoother bends, but when it comes to claims of keeping cylinder exhaust pulses spaced evenly for smoother turbine operation, nobody is even sure how to do it effectively.
I just spent like 10 minutes trying to find the article again so anyone with an Autospeed subscrip could have a read, but I can't f**k find it. I'll keep looking and edit if I find it...because it's a very interesting article, although probably outdated.
