Is the turbocharger that snot is offering with their stage 2 kit a Garrett turbocharger? All it states on his website is that it is a SP GTP88 turbocharger. Anyone got any info on this?

The stage 2 turbochargers are made specific for snort performance , these are modified tbp4 ( gt3576) as for the specs it depends on when the turbo was purchased , the current stage 2 features p trim exhaust .84 a/r t/4 split pulse twin internal wastegate , gt4088 compressor wheel 88mm (gt3582 is 82mm ) 4 inch intake oil/water cooled 360 deg thrust bearing

we are not allowed to mark/label the turbochargers as garrett for the above reason , however we are garrett dealer and stage 3 4 5 ect are all supplied with garrett of the shelf turbochargers and are suitably tagged/labeled

in the future ALL our turbochargers will be built specific to our requirements and branded as snort turbochargers
we have developed our own ceramic bearing system/turbo which has been built/tested however due to the costs of equipment ect it will be some time before this is reality

unless you know what you are talking about, keep it to your self.

When I bought my #2 kit from geoff he said it was a Garrett turbo, when I got the kit, I found their was no Garrett logo on it, when I rang geoff back after several attempts, he claimed it's not a garrett turbo but it has garrett internals?? why the change in information. After 3 weeks running on the car the front oring blew out on the front housing. I took it to Ray Hall Turbo and when he looked at it he said the turbo is about as garrett as he is aboriginal. I asked him about the quality and he said when it breaks in a few months he will sell me a genuine, haha. If snort is a dealer why isn't he recognised on the Garrett site. It was annoying to find out that geoff himself gave me false information just to make a sale. Maybe his products have since changed.??
My comments are probably going to start arguments, but in future i'll believe Ray Hall over geoff anyday.

Did you ask Geoff to fix or replace the turbo when the oring blew out?

if you talk to geoff you will find out he has 2 turbo chargers he offers, the modified T88? or something which is more suited to the application, or a GT3540, as this is what i just bought, i went the GT3540 option.

You get what u pay for. Chinese products are always cheaper.

Ray Hall uses garrett turbo's (as he is a dealer) and recommends kyle at 6boost for the manifolds. Surprisingly there is a big diff between 6boost manifolds and a snort stage 2. 6boost's manifold is a work of art, internally the collector after the turbo is awesome. The snort manifold internally is a dog's breakfast. The collector pipes are all just welded together. My manifold had welding dags and burrs that I had to die grind off before I could install it. The mating face between the manifold and the turbo had to be machined flat by myself due to the warped surface from the welding process.

fatnsticky if you purchased a stage 2 kit from snort and the manifold was made the way you suggested ( merge collector , flange plates ) and you also had the turbo fail within days why not return the product for refund or warranty??

we have never had ANY other stage 2 turbocharger fail as you suggest? taking our product to ray hall is like taking kfc to mcdonalds for warranty wtf

we are autherised garret agents and the turbocharger supplied with the stage 2 is a custom built unit ( built specific for snort ) for this reason we are not allowed to tag the turbocharger as a garrett unit as its not supplied off the shelf with these specifications , the stage 2 turbo has gone through as many as 4 upgrades from first release , these now feature p trim exhaust ( same as to4z ) gt4088 compressor wheel . 4 inch intake anti surge comp cover , 360 deg thrust bearings to name just a few

if the supplied turbocharger was rebuilt with new seals/bearings from ray hall it would have cost alot more then 1.60 and the garrett components wouldnt have fitted if the turbocharger??

in any case if you did have the experience as you suggested you should have returned the product to the manufacturer for warranty/replacement as all parts a covered with 12 months warranty this includes any manifold /turbo components supplied by snort
