i havent read into this much, fairly new to the boosted side of things,
i am using a EF II fairmont as my turbo daily and problem i have is the 10 psi fuel cut on the map sensor, is their any way to change or trick this to get over the 10 psi mark to possibly 12 - 14 psi without too much hassle with the stock chipped ECU i have been told i can get an XR6T map sensor and use that but being a B series going to an E i dont know how they would talk to eachother is it all at a loss or would i have to jump to an aftermarket fuel / spark ecu

Some people put a one way valve in the vacuum line to allow vacuum but not boost to go through to the map. Maybe someone can expand on this

I used a one way valve from the falcon brake booster. It will also need to bleed off vacume between the valve and the map (equalise to atmospheric pressure), so just incase there is a quick change from vacume to boost and the valve shuts off there will be no vacume left in the line giving the map a false reading. I did this by putting a tiny hole (pin size or smaller) in the fitting that i used to take the larger diameter of the booster valve, down to the size of the rubber line going to the map. Hope this helps.

ill admit i tried cheating with boost and tuning at first with adjustable fuel reg ,factory ecu ect..
and the results i got were ok..(still did the job) but going to the ems ecu was the best thing ive done.. with the ability to have it tuned or tune it your self via lap top.. even off boost the car has better throttle responce and power than it did with the factory ecu.. |
