The car was fine to drive around, it was only at WOT that I was experiencing the detonation.. If your running straight gas, it should cool the intake temps more then what petrol would. Also since it is only straight gas you should be able to get away with just an ignition computer (should be a bit cheaper) I’m still looking for a better coil pack setup, if you find anything I would love to know…
Cheers

yeah, the was the plan, but thats proving difficult.
try find a good ignition only ECU :P

Maybe just get a full ecu in case you go back to petrol, you never know it might drop back to below $1 one day :) I'm interested in how you are fueling the car with the gas setup and the turbo. Will be good when your finished.. :D

Fueling via Gas Research setup.
fueling is easy on LPG, but ignition is holding me back.

basically a pressurised line from just after the turbo to the LPG balance line input to force the LPG out.

I see your point. I cant help but feel... these im not up to speed on john's setup rmyers has a fantastic looking setup... looks like a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of money... seems wrong to stinge out on tuning.

Sorry to be crude but as my mechanic puts it: "Dont f**k around"

Not stinging out on the tuning at all, i've got a haltech ECU to install to control the timing :) Will be getting that fitted soon enough....

Hmm, everytime I read about LPG I want to use it.

The lack of ignition only computers is a worry though.

What about using something from the MSD range? Surely there is something to suit. People with carby's must be having the same problem, then I guess people with carby's dont have coil packs :(

hey guys thought i'd chime in here...
im building a turbo 250 Xflow on gas...
i have a massive problem with ignition... i have the EST (electronic spark timing) the EST runs off a MAP sensor and increases advance in regards to manifold pressure...
massive problem with boost as it would be "pinging off its head!!!"
lol so i have just purchased an MSD Boost Timing Master PN#5462
can be seen on the msd website
this effectively adds 0degree to 3degrees of retard per pound of boost and has a max of 15degrees or 20degrees (depending on if its old or newer)
i havnt hooked it up yet but i am told its "piss easy" and it looks it
you dont have to change anything else you just plug it in and done...
hope this helps and good luck
cheers

MSD do have boost retarding devices, but your looking at around $900 for something to suit the EF coil packs setup. Mind you, it would enable you to run your stock ignition maps, which would give you the right timing whilst off boost and then retard the timing bases on boost, as well as giving you a stronger spark. Only thing is, if you spend another couple of hundred and you would have a full engine management system

Lol, just do us all a favour and get a metal PCV... not good for my blood pressure looking at nice rides with broken rockers..... ;)

Broken rockers?? Whats the go there? Just pull the pvc out, place in the wheelie bin and mount a fitting there to plumb out some more air... the rear vent isnt big enough to vent

Nah, ask effalcon what happened to his last engine

i have an EF... which doens't have a TFI. it uses coil packs.
for the MSD DIS setup its around $700+ for the DIS setup + the boost retard controller.

I'm thinking i might go for the Megajolt or similar ignition only 'kit' for the ford EDIS system.
