Ah ok, my bad I thought they were good to go except for fuel system upgrade. $200 for a tune, it says theyll supply them for $100 blank, and $100/tune thereafter after you provide a dyno printout for them to work on. As I said it wouldnt be reliable and it wouldnt be flash and it prbably wouldnt be all that safe on the stock engine either but it definately could be done. Im not claiming to be an expert at it you and a lot of others here have actually done it but that was pretty much the info I ended up with when I looked into it for mine.

The kits are complete for an E series. I had to use a flash tuner and 2 bar map sensor to get around the fuel cut and I wanted to use bigger injectors instead of a rising rate reg. My kit was $2500 because it was his development kit. New kits are $3999 or thereabouts. Exhaust, extractors $1100 42lb injectors - $350 Flash tuning, 2 bar map sensor and plug - $1530 $5480 all up. $7k for a new kit. PS if you havent done it, you have NFI. lol at the thought of using a mail order tune for a turbo E series. Good luck doing a power run on a dyno at full load with no tuning at all so you can send a dyno sheet to TI performance. The AU pinged at 0psi with hardly any throttle. |

Under $5k is easily doable, you just need to use 2nd hand parts or be very DIY inclined.
My first turbo build ran in under $2k. I've upgraded parts over time and i'm still under $5k on the turbo setup. 93_eb_fairmont wrote: If youre good at welding and stuff, you could get an M90 or M112 out of the USA for $200 or so, fabricate everything yourself and have it in and going for <$2000. LOL @ this, M112's in the US are generally ATLEAST $500 used, and thats IF you can get one sent here (most people can't be stuffed) IMO: if you're serious, either a snort M112 kit @ ~8psi ish or a 2nd hand Turbo kit. $5k is plenty for a 2nd hand kit, you should be able to get something pretty much complete for that kinda cash.

How much was the initial fitting and tuning of your GRA setup though?
It cost me $1600 to get a 2nd hand converter and mixer (which I got for free) fitted to the maverick with a tank and lines. I got it done when it was NA so I could say it doesnt count but the turbo wouldnt have worked without it. |

car was purchased already on LPG. but these days Petrol can be done cheap too. Fuel Reg + J3 if you're after more add a pump.

Plese correct me if im wrong. But I was told by Geoff from Snort that the standed ECU will cope with the stage 3 (?) kit at 8psi or less. That was what I was going to do until recently.

Yeah it can as long as you have the rising rate reg.

my tuner still is against superchargers, recomends turboing my car and tunning for 0-100
he says that the modern turbos dont take long to spool up and produce more off the line power than the supercharger any one agree with this? my tuner also does a turbo kit which is exactly 5grand dyno tuned new parts, and intercooled is there any way to get past the high compression i have to turbo my car or streghten it to handle the compression????

Hat kind of turbo, manifold and fuel management system do you get for that?

im finding out tomro
if this is true about the turbos having better off the line performance what do superhcargers have against turbos apart from mabye reliability

Google how turbo's and superchargers work.
A turbo that spools instantly like my supercharger is going to be pretty small. |

Only way to get quick off the line with a turbo is to sit there spooling it up. Buy the time you've got boost, supercharger guy will be gone.
Also it'll be much harsher on drive line components.

i already know how both work and how the diffrent chargers work, which is why i picked out the twin screw to begin with because it seems to be the best of both worlds
i guess a small turbo is what i would be after then as i dont drive ovr say 110

paulos wrote: i guess a small turbo is what i would be after then as i dont drive ovr say 110 you should be selecting a super/turbo charger to suit the usable revv range you want to use it. has very little to do with speed and more like what rpm you come on boost or top out etc. if you want quick 0-100 and dont go over that then get a 4.11:1 diff.......
