Ok. You prob have heard this question before. I have a stock standard 5.0lt Tikford AU XR8 auto with 131,000 on the clock.. Can a supercharger be fitted with out doing any mods to the motor... This is my every day work car..Basicly i am just looking at improved fuel econ (As I travel 960km a week to and from work) and quicker acceleratioin as i drive on country roads, and when you get the grey haired grannys on the road and not many passing opportunities, so need quicker pick up to get past.. What would be the best Supercharger for a stock standard motor and what boost?
Any info wil be greatly appreciated.

I dont think a supercharger is going to help you on fuel economy mate.Especially when you got a V8.

AS far as I know, Raptor dont do a AU 5.0L kit.

I have a Vortech on my 95 XR8 and it is great. Fuel economy does improve when your cruising, when your hard accelerating, it drinks a bit but overall i feel it gets similar fuel economy with a mix of spirited and highway driving.

I run about 8-9psi of boost which is about what you'd want to run on a stock motor, though you can always run a smaller pulley if you ever feel the need for more, the vortech can supply up to 20psi as it is gear driven, unlike the powerdyne/ raptors which are belt driven and run out of puff and warranty over 9psi.

I'd go a Vortech from CAPA, the kits are complete, can be fitted in a weekend and will give substansial gains. I squeezed 307rwhp out of mine, an AU 5ltr should be able to get 350-400 rwhp, depending on what series it is.

Snort Performance have a 5L kit running a Paxton Novi 1200 or can upgrade to the Novi 1600, base kit is around the $5k mark iirc, check on boostedfalcon.net for details

I have seen the Snort kit and highly reccome4nd it. Looks very factory
Uses the alt location and moves the alt to the lower pulley. Looks real trick

They look the goods too, looks alot easier to do the front mount intercooler without having to flip the upper manifold around.

Also the Paxtons are a very good blower too, same league as procharger and vortech.

If only they had these kits last year.

I know this thread goes back a bit but nothing like making sure info is correct.

We still don't do a Raptor kit for the AU - yet, we have a customer coming down from Cairns in around 6-8 weeks time

On the boost/puff levels quoted in this post above I do have a thought or 2 :)

The warranty is up to 10psi boost - always has been.

The charger won't run out of puff no matter what you do on your stock motor, we currently have it (Raptor Supercharger) on 355 stroker pushing a nice 650hp (soon to be 700 - on engine dyno) with the Raptor V, more than enough puff and all from a 5.5kg device that you hold in one hand very easily.

No need to pay top dollar for a good kit for the 5.0 anymore, new options now :D

Hi Guys.

I'm curious as to what is the estimated power output of the Raptor on an AU XR8 220???

Thanks.
Doug.

Doug

Same as any other kit or more, general rule of thumb we have found.

Typically a Raptor kit will offer more boost for the $$ spent. When comparing kits firstly compare boost which each kit gives then look at the price, you will work it out easy then :)

Our first AU V8 is booked in for August 10th

I think about $4600 which is poverty level cash for a brand new system
