I've been thinking about supercharging the EL since I bought it at the beginning of the year and after reading about various members rides and projects it has given me the motivation to take the leap.

Only problem being - I don't know sh@t!

Can anyone point me in the right direction where I can source info regarding what engine mods I'm going to need to do, what supercharger I should go for and other mods to the drivetrain that I should look at making.

I'm looking at doing it in stages, with the first stage getting the supercharger on at a level of boost where the stock motor will be able to handle it. Then Open the motor and get it to a stage where it can handle some big hp. Then wind up the boost and do whatever else it will need.

That's what's going on in my head... can it be done like that? What components would I need and what other components do they match? Any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to hear from some people who've charged their 8s and find out what not to do either!

Cheers!

As is www.corral.net

What are you looking for in your supercharger setup mate?

Ridiculous, tractor pulling torque... or monsterous high end horsepower?

how much dosh you willing to pour into the project?

Keen to get your hands dirty?

Ive had my car supercharged... then desupercharged...

www.marksworkshop.com.au is probably the best place to go or go to www.bptmotorsport.com

Both places can tell you exactly the way to do it and how much.

If you are planning on running a safe level of boost on a stock motor, but still able to run more if you rebuild the motor, i'd have a look at going the vortech route.

I wish I knew how to do that thing where your posts are inserted here!

EL XR8 - I think that's what I be looking for.

The vortech does sound like the way to go. I want to be able to have the option of going stupid later.

EF Futura - Torque or horsepower??? I think I would like a balance of the two. Not really sure, I didn't know I had to choose. Money won't be a problem. I'll do it in stages if I have to but have about 10 grand to start off with now. It should be going on the house but... I need to have a bit of fun! As for getting my hands dirty, I can build a mean scaffold, but under the bonnet it's all nuts and bolts to me! I wish I could do some of the work as it would save me a bucketload! Also, working away doesn't allow any time. How come you decharged your car?

Timmeh - I've looked at Marks workshop but heard of a few people getting burnt when it comes to price. I was hoping to check out a few other places and get some prices then go for a drive and see him. No matter what the issues are with price, he definately knows his s**t as the Perth dyno shootouts will attest to.

If you have 10k to play with, you could do a very decent blower setup, and have someone install it for you. (You only need a normal mechanic) to bolt all the stuff up for you. I reckon if you look around for parts, or even if you buy a kit off someone like CAPA *shudders*
I reckon you'd have some change out of that 10k for sure.

if you had all the parts ready, and everything thats needed. then im sure a bunch of perth people (with SC knowlegde) would be happy to help you install it. you'd probably be best to supply some booze :) and some food. youd then save on mechanic costs

Yeah, I will check out BPT and a few others when I get back to Perth on my break.

What parts will I need to be looking for? All I know about is the kits. Am I able to source seperate parts and it be cheaper? If so, I'll need to know what I'm looking for and where to look. I mean it when I say I don't know a thing! I'm pretty new to all this.

Lots of alcohol and food! 2 of my favourite things!!! So who should I be talking to Tocchi???

Thats just my experiences with them, my bracket doesn't seem to make the blower sit in a good spot (too close to the shock tower).
You can try and source some parts of the kit that you would need, such as the blower itself, i have a water injection kit that i bought and never used, etc. Then you can buy the brackets and pulley set off CAPA for around $1500.
IF you need a list of stuff you might need to buy, i can write a basic one down, and i guess people on here could add suggestions, or comments about some of the included stuff...

A rundown of the parts I should be looking for would be greatly appreciated. I don't get too much time online to spend finding what I am looking for (which I'm not really sure what it is) then once found being able to read it all and understand it.

Tocchi, can u please pm me and tell me how you did the whole "scaffy says" thing???

A bit of a list...

*Blower head (Vortech part of things) ($1,500-$3,000)
*Bracket to suit the blower and your car ($700)
*Pulley setup for your car ($700)
*Plumbing with blow off valve from blower to throttle body ($300-$500)
*Oil pickup and return lines, unless included with the blower... ($50-$100)
*Upgraded fuel pump ($200)
*My preference is bigger injectors rather than rising rate regulator ($400)
*Some sort of engine management, eg: CAPA chip or aftermarket (Wolf, Autronic, Motec, etc) ($1,000-$5,000, depending on model of course)
*Water Injection or intercooler, not a must but beneficial. ($200-$1,000)

If you know what to look for, you can save some cash, i did my whole setup for around the 7k mark, which was still 1k cheaper than the CAPA kit at the time.
But mine is intercooled, and i have a Wolf ECU, new fuel pump, and bigger injectors. Basically i just bought the stuff and set it up the way i preferred to.

If anyone wants to add or remove stuff from the list, or adjust some prices, etc... go ahead.
