OK, small update.
Due to waiting for the tensioner to be welded there was no progress yesterday so I go to spend a bit of time with the wife. First time this week, not bad for a week into my leave . Daz rang about an hour ago to let me know that the tensioner is done so i will pick it up from him early Monday and head into CMS to fit it up and get going. Hope this temporary fix works . After further study of the front dress I can confirm that i have fitted the tensioner on the wrong side of the crank (f**k). Issue is that when a belt is pulled through on the Crank Pully (Harmonic Balancer) it is kept under tension (tight), on the exit side of the Crank Pulley the belt is not held under tension (slack). See the pic below Attachment: With the fitting of the Tensioner on the Slack side of the Crank, this then takes up the slack and keeps tension on the Alternator and Power steer. With my set up I don't retain the tension on the Alternator of Power Steer pump, hence the screaming belt. I will switch the setup on my front dress with the tensioner being put on the slack side of the crank and the idler pulley between the Blower and the AC Pump. See the pic below. Attachment: Tensioner relocation will be easy as I will just need to drill a hole or 2 and tap them. Idler pulley is another matter, I will need to fabricate a mount and get Daz to weld it up. Main objective is to get her running, tuned and home. |

I thought it was a piss weak tensioner but you mentioned it was a taunting job to get the belt on a 2 man job Will anything major really need to be pulled apart to weld ? |

No, Easy pull for the front dress plate. The front plate it the black plate that you can see from the front with the tensioner and chrome idler attached. Just remove the belt, 2 bolts on the Blower support and 3 bolts through the timing case and it's off.

Just before I go on further with this project I would like thank a few people;
DA22LE (Dazfab) for all the welding, sump, Intake Piping mounts etc, and a bit of machining, some of it at short notice and he continues today to assist. Shane, for one top motor at a great price. Joe and the crew at CMS, Jase and Shane, for all their help and advice as well as putting up with me for the last few months working on the motor. Getting the old engine out and the new one in. Special thanks for Joe for me taking up space in his workshop over the last week and it's still there . CMS for the stage 3 head and 2a cam. Guys at ENZED at Ingleburn for work on piping etc and some of my odd requests. CBC Bearings at Campbelltown Bursons at Campbelltown Some of the guys on Fordmods who helped with a few things, Benj especially. And a special thanks to my wife who has put up with me disappearing into the shed all of a sudden when an idea popped into my head and for all patience she has show over this time. |

May i ask a personal question you can PM me the answer how much is this costing all up the charger / intake manifold set up etc I have already got a similar fuel set up in my car at the moment so i am future proof i just like this setup i know its not a ordinary bolt on simple setup though |

I set it up and he sticks it together. His workmanship is brilliant and second to none. He has the gear to do the work as well as the skills. If you have access to the best, use them. . Also why CMS did my headwork and cam and why Joe will be doing the tuning. |

I have been collecting these parts over a few years. For example an Eaton M112 Gen 4 from CAPA is $1995.00 + Freight. I would think that a Whipple would be more. Manifold is custom as is every thing else. Injectors - 42lb Bosch - $53.00 each. Walbro pump, AU or BA Fuel Rail, BA XR6 Turbo fuel reg. Front Dress, Idler etc, Belt. Hoses, catch can etc. it goes on and on. Thousands of dollars, it all adds up. Time and effort, research, R&D, Unknown, priceless . |

Small Update:
Spent the morning building the new idler pully mount. Amazing what you can do with and Angle Grinder, Drill, Files and a few hand tools. Goes off to DAZFAB tomorrow for welding. The bolts are only for assembly, when it is welded up they will be removed. All I then need to do is to slot the base and mount it to the Dress Plate. Slots will give me more adjustment if I need it.
