But do you realise how it would drive! Lag till about 4700rpm (At least) and then too much boost to handle! I want something I can drive DAILY, and something that I can to the rally car around with aswell!

Nup, where did you get that rpm figure from?? It would be easily produing positive preasure at 3000, then it would spin up boost VERY fast... rememer we has 4lts of air here...

Gt30/40 or Gt35/40
Talk to Michael at GCG they have some big turbines but there AR is .84 with .7 fronts that can make up to 800 h.p but will spool rather low rpm..There wheels inside are acually bigger than the Gt35/40's...The good part with this set uo is plenty air flow at low boost..So good street manners... I hope so we bought one for the XR6... Ahh it's the T04Z Here it is..The exact one in pic... http://www.gcg.com.au/Catalogue_Menus/G ... b_t04z.htm

you gotta think practicle 1000 ponies out of a turbo up to or wat ever but just think all this power is goin to be at top end were abouts are you gonna use it wouldnt you want somethinbg that will spool up around 2500 3000 even tho its earlier it is still gonna punch out a f**k load of power i would rather keep up with the high powered hsv and skylines off the line and over take them rather than get eaten off the line and have to over take them at 120 + its useless power my 2 cents

Yeah, that one will be very efficient down low... I'm a fan of being able to drive it off boost though as it make wet driving a bit more sane...
As an example of driving off boost, on our drive up to Qld last week, cruising at 110 I was able to still overtake and VERY little throtle without it getting into boost which was great for fuel usage and for the missus when she was driving.... a smaller exhaust AR and it would nave been on and off boost without trying |

Ummm ??? You don't seem to know much about turbo's?? Those numbers are at MAX boost that turbo will flow!! I guess about 12Lb on healthy engine would net 300 rwkw..
I'm too saying a GT45 would be way too big for daily driver, Thats why I said f**k yea!!! But up to 700 / 800 is about right on...Remember the XR6t turbo std can produce 600 or so h.p easy with correct tune & other parts...Most engines don't make serious power till around 2500 rpm anyway..That way you can drive under boost otherwise you'd be wheelspining everywhere...

well i would rather have low down power personally but thats me i dont want massive power figures, a big ego , and to be able to take my car off the clock in 6 seconds i want fun power.
i was using other figures as example clearly way out

Since going to bigger block etc Lower comp, better cam the turbo's work real hard!!! With lower comp there's cylinder to fill, bigger bang and spool comes on real quick..Hopeing by doubling turbo's h.p capability I'll have some control..Not off boost or on..One a 5.0 they are excellent but 330 and 7.8 comp they make too much low end torque to control..I went to drags and could only run mid 13's..On three runs I nearly wasted a new set of 17" Dunlops...Hope my P trim /2.920" turbine wheels will help in this regard... Here is the differance This is on 330ci V8 and twin's... For the guys that came to Singleton a few weeks ago..Thanks for telling me about fuel smell from behind.. I found the fuel return line was kinked so fuel presure kept rising and on boost run real real rich...With new fuel lines and pumps it runs good now...

I don't have ego I'm possibly one of the oldest guys on here and do most the work myself along with Michael we help each other out on our cars... Look at these timeslips they are either turbo/ Na or nitrous... http://www.fordforums.com.au/timeslips.php?

Yea I'm after more usable power though..Those turbo's run out at 4800..

thats a healthy step up in size... they will deffienatly shift the torque curve up the rev range. How long till they are on and running?

Yea notice A.R ratio is the same?
Hopefully another week, we are fabbing up dump pipes now..Actually finished one side..The rear housings are different...We cut out most of rear wastegate and welding dump pipe to wastegate housing... With these turbo's the w/g is in dump flange not on turbine housing...But we fixed that!! It will flow heaps better too, no turbulance as w/g will have its own exit as we welded in a 150mm plate between the turbine exit and w/g exit... If you look in top pic you'll see w/g housing with s/steel divider welded in..between the two turbo's.... There's a dyno day comming up ..Organised by HSV club...We have had invitation to come along.... The same place in Granville we went a few month's back... I can't wait !!!!

hey
So from reading this, the TO4Z and TO4e (0.5?) are a fairly suitable turbo for the 4L. Producing 250rwkw+ and pushing past 6000rpm? I was thinking about goin for a stg 3 snort kit, but the only thing that bothers me is the KKK turbo's. Ive never heared of them. I know they were used in early audi's and porche'e, but that was years ago.
