Yes, commonly available and resonably priced it is a good choice for the I6. No problem getting 250rwkw.

You will need to improve gearbox with that power though, clutch and T5 will not handle that nor will the auto...

T04E works great on my EF I6 powered XF ute! Was looking at swapping it for a Garrett GT42 the other day, but really I think its just overkill for a road car/ute!

Gt 42 f**k yea!!! 1000 h.p +
T04 would be o/k ..Can upgrade comp housing latter...
Imo the TKO box is much stronger and cheaper...About 1/2 $$$ of T5/6..
With good clutch and good driving a T5 can handle 230 rwkw...No power shifting etc you'll be right...Talk to Mal Wood..

Does anyone know what a garret gt42 turbo is worth?

And what size housings and stuff? like a/r.

And would they be suitable for a turbo I6?
Or is it a bit large?

In Aus www.gcg.com.au / http://www.gcg.com.au/Catalogue_Menus/T ... ett_BB.htm

Or check group purchase on http://www.turbomustangs.com/forums/for ... &forumid=5
A GT45 would be too big unless you have forged pistons and top qualty rods as they are 1000+ h.p turbo's...A GT3540 is a 700 h.p turbo...
If you want to purchase from U.S these guys deliver..
http://www.pagparts.com/perfpts1.asp?pp ... &cat=gtnbb

.Prices are there also..5% duty $200 freight for two turbo's then difference in dollar exchange rate....
The GT3540 would be better off buying here..They are around $1850 at GCG...They ARE genuine Garretts....

A turbo in the size range of a GT45 will blow some serious air into your motor, so yeah, as said above you will want a serious bottom end to utilize its potential... that said, it still would be an effective turbo on a 4lt, I wouldnt expect to see much boost under 3000rpm but if you built the motor to rev out to 6000 or more, it would be an awesmoe set up.

The thing about BIG turbo is that not many have been used on 4lt motors so theres not much info on how they drive ect... but Ive seen them on supra motors (1JZ's ect ) and they still drive pretty well down low, but animals on boost so one on a 4lt would be certainly worth trying

Yea ..I wouldn't use one with std rods and pistons though....Stoping rpm at 6000 is another!! Just as well theres such a thing as rev limiters !!!!
