I had a T3/T4 hybrid on my EA and it made 206rwkw and revved cleanly to the redline.
A gt3540 is mostly a T3 flange but you can buy them in a T4 flange nowadays. An XR6T 3540 is a T3 flange. You can also get adapter plates to match a T4 flange to a T3 turbo. |

That is more than enough poke for our friend here as his Exa/ET would have never made that amount of power without some serious cash being thrown at the little 1.5 litre. My brothers VL turbo is making around the 185rwkW mark (educated guess) and f**k does that thing put a smile on my dial when I lean on it. |

It was a fun setup. Once I got rid of that crappy standard AIT intercooler the car had next to no lag. It was very responsive which is what you want.

there was an AIT kit that used a T3 on an XD which showed very good results. i also spoke to a guy here as i considered using a t03 on mine for a while, he had run a T3 on his EA and had nothing but praise for it. what sort of dollars do you have to spend to get a new/good second hand t3/t4 hybrid for with an internal gate?

Yer i have about $1000 to spend on the turbo itself.
I have a T4 manifold with external wastegate.

If your interested I might have a GT3540 for that price.
Its an internally gated one but the wastegate has been welded shut. This just means you either need to run an external wastegate or replace the rear housing and fit a stock wastegate setup. You can get an adapter plate for like $40 off ebay to let it fit your exhaust manifold. I bought it but dont really need it atm.I'd rather have the cash to finish my EA off. |

The 3540 is a T3.
Ill have a look for a link. A mate on another site has a T4 manifold and adapter plate for his 3540 and he makes 355rwkw. So they are available. |

The XF AIT kit used a relatively large T3 rear housing.
I almost have the entire kit stashed out the back including the fried turbo... Dont go too small, XR6 turbos boost up in no time. Dont consider anything smaller than a GT3540. Big motors have lots of torque...
